I've been spending a lot on time, here, on PF. Two years ago I had a car accicent what caused a longer brake in my professional life. Now i am healthy again and finally no nape hurts me anymore. However, i still give tuitions from English language and do some translating. I also look after children. Finding a steady job in my city is very difficult.
I wish I could go to Great Britain or to Ireland to look after children. I would like to live for a half a year with a well educated English or Irish family and help them, to look after a child or two children. I have 5 years experience as a teacher, also at the office as a proofreader, I speak English fluently.
I like chidren very much. They adore me because I laugh very often, I have a huge imagination to make up a new plays for them. I am a good, very nice, kind, trustworthy and well educated person. i have masters degree at pedagogical studies and post diploma course. I also could teach Polish or English language in UK. I have already my documents translated. i would like also to be assistant on lessons in English schools.
Is anybody in here who looks for a nanny or childminder from Poland who is ready from May to go to UK or Ireland possibly to work in English school in future?
Wish me luck, nice people from PF. Can anybody tell me how to prepare for getting to GTC and how to do all the formalities? Is it possible for teacher of Polish language (I studied Polish philology) to work as a assistant teacher in UK? i also taugh English, but I have only methodological qualifications.
So, five years experience at Polish schools at teaching English, Polish philology and dream about working in UK. What do you think about it? Can anybody help me?
Oh, thank you so much. Because of a longer brake a (I mentioned about it) caused by a car accicent I don't believe in my abilities very much. I needed words like yours more than I realised, phtoa
As for first steps... What should I do at first? Go there and then look there for a family or contact with British family and do all formalities in Poland? To tell the truth, I don't know. Should I do all the organisational matters in Poland or in England? i know somebody can think it's a silly question, but I've never been in a position of au-pair and I am just curious.
it is such a gamble Noreen as to what kind of family you might get. It might be fantastic, it could be a nightmare. I know cos I used to teach English to a class of au pairs.....they had some stories, you can imagine.
There are online agencies.... if you like, PM me, I could put an advert up for you in the local university here, you might get an academic family...... as long as you know it's a gamble and come with enough money to get home in an emergency....
Aww... noreenb's coming to the UK :D You were always one of the (few) nice people on here. There's always plenty of room for intelligent, educated Polish women here in London - it's not as easy to find work as it was a few years ago, but it's still much easier than everywhere else. Go for it, or you'll regret it when you get old haha! I can't help, as I know nothing about au pairs or teachers (unfortunately, I know a bit too much about a few people from Bydgoszcz lol, but that's off-topic haha :) ), but good luck anyway ;)
NorthMancPolak: wow, thank you for nice words. Do you already have a free room for me, friend? :) Yammi, yammi! Do I already have a few fruits in my tummy?
If you are specifically looking at the Au pair work to start with Id leave off the masters degree in ,well, whatever it is :) Any prospective family will presume you will leave them the moment you get a "better" job. Im sure you would honour any contracts but,Im not hiring a nanny :) Good luck in your search, and, one last thing, expand your search outside of London, you will end up financially trapped there.
There are lots of au pair jobs around my area. Rich families who live busy lives. Most au pairs get second jobs as well just to keep the income up. My French friend is an au pair who also works in the local cafe.
You have the will so it's just about the planning ;) If you want something enough then usually with hard work you can achieve it. ;)
Good luck in your search, and, one last thing, expand your search outside of London, you will end up financially trapped there.
and,one last thing, expand your search outside of London,
No, don't. Seriously, don't. Been there, done that, regretted it, etc.
you will end up financially trapped there.
You can become financially trapped anywhere, and I know this from bitter experience. It's better to be where the work is. And, let's face it, that's generally within the M25. Sad but true.
Yep, most earnings will be taken up.
Not necessarily. My disposable income has always been way higher in London, and that's what really counts, not the outgoings.
Thank you guys for all the answers, so, outskirts of London is cheaper. Yes, I heard about that many times. I had a little hope that a nice family will answer me quickly here. i will wait for it for a few days. Maybe the hope will become the truth.
I wish I could have a nice adventure for a year. The people who say I will regret it, have so much right. That's the fact. I would be good if I had some nice friends around me who could help me in first several days in the City. Anybody of the nice men interested? London, me, May or June and you, hmm, NorthMancPolak, for example or dtaylor5632, hmmm? Or someone else?
I actually didn't take the decision where should I go. The nicest part before me, watching pictures of cities of Great Britain. If any kind of coincidence happened in here, I mean if somebody proposed me here a job in particular/precise place also would be fine.
I'm surprised that this thread hasn't been swamped by the usual non-European "guest" types, with their predictable "I offer Polish woman job/room/marrieds" messages, complete with mobile phone numbers and Hotmail addresses... ;)
Anybody of the nice men interested? London, me, May or June and you, hmm, NorthMancPolak, for example or dtaylor5632,
Never trust a man in a skirt who fries Mars bars ;)
me: "Anybody of the nice men interested? London, me, May or June and you, hmm, NorthMancPolak, for example or dtaylor5632, hmmm"
You know, Rozumiem nic, what I really mean: London, men, men or June, and you, men, home, NorthmancPolak, and for example dtaylor5632, and home, hmm. lol I want to be an Au-pair... and men lol Please do not change the thread just into "Noreenb wants to go to UK and men". Mafketis, actually both brake and break. Stupid driver's brake caused a break in my proffesional life and my spine problems. I smashed into a pavement after being hit by a car that driver's forgotten what brake was.
The jokes made me to laugh today, Rozumiemnic and I am grateful for it. I was in a bad mood. I sent 12 emails yesterday and today to possibles places where I would like to work and nobody's answered me yet. What a horror. Looking for a job in Bydgoszcz is a horrible duty. I must do it everyday and with every hour I lose my hope. Many people I know are in simiIar situation to mine in the sad city.
In fact, my dream about going to UK becomes with every one of yours, friends, posts, more realistic. Gosh, gosh, British families, wake up, I am here, your future nanny and au-pair and childminder and cleaner, ironer in one, hire me, please, I wait for it.
