Crying Polish truck driver on British roads is Internet hit

A sample of usual bashing of some Polish driver, driving a truck on Polish plates, they could not resist to leave it as they would do it if it was on English plates.

I find your statement astounding...!!!
For a supposed lawyer you do come out with some biased and ill-conceived comments - I only hope that you do not practice the same crass assumptions that you do here with your clients.

As to stopping on the hard shoulder of a motorway, it is the same for all countries isn't it?
Common sense says that you do not do this, but this is something that these muppets were sadly devoid of.

This is the reason why...
The AA is warning drivers about the dangers of parking on motorway hard shoulders.

It comes after two crashes on Kent's highways were as a result of vehicles pulled over on the roadside.

A man was killed on Monday night after he stopped his car on the M20 hard shoulder and was hit by a truck between junctions 8 and 9. The lorry driver, from Belgium, was arrested.

They actually managed to miss with one shot (despite it being point blank range).

You know,I debated whether to add the 8th *bang*......... a bit like the lad who was killed ,the one that sparked the london riots. Two shots fired point blank at an unarmed man. One bullet killed him,the other bullet missed him and lodged in the first shooters Police radio......FFS......

Or a few months ago in the North West, a lad sat in a car, blocked in a car park, surrounded by armed officers, they throw two smoke grenades into his car then shot him dead....he was also unarmed.

Both times the first official Police statements gave the impression that the dead men were armed only to be retracted days later.
Sorry if *off topic* but I felt it balanced out the * Polish Cops are BAD, British Bobbies are nice and polite unarmed gentlemen* stuff.

Nice to see the British are all about harassing hard working, honest people.

Isn't it more about upholding the law and making the roads safer? Just saying...!!!

C'mon Plastic, let's be honest about it, the way he behaved, he would get in much more trouble in many other countries. The cops took care of business, that's all. He can't be parking on the shoulder just to cook his dinner, be for real.

That truck driver was clearly a menace to public safety!

Er, he wasn't working, that was the problem: he was a truck driver, he was supposed to be driving, not parking illegally and unsafely.

He stopped a few minutes to eat dinner. The truck was not endangering anyone.

Did you not read the first post on this page?

How do you work that out?
He knew he was breaking the law otherwise why did he take the pictures of the other trucks parked there?

PlasticPole, Actually it was. The hard shoulder exists for definite reasons and ever truck driver in Europe knows you can't just park up on them. Otherwise, hey, let's all just use it as a parking lot.

In his case he was also risking other people's safety by staying on a motorway with a tachograph so full that he couldn't even make it to a truck stop.

this is ridiculous! He is just stopped on the shoulder ffs. I see it all the time. Cops have better things to do than harass truck drivers what with all the speeders and reckless drivers out there. You would think there would be bigger dangers for them to worry about but no, they are going to badger this truck driver who is only trying to earn a living in an honest way. Even if he was illegally parked, it's not the crime of the century and with all those speeders, they cause more wrecks than people parked on shoulders. Put it in perspective.

Chew on your own words buddy as you are going a little bit OTT here lol

So you're saying we should abolish traffic violations? Maybe let people drive however they want?

I see it all the time.

Do you? You know, you gotta have a serious reason for stopping your car on the shoulder and fixing your meal is definately not one of them.

It was against the law but hardly worth all the drama. Cops should warn the guy and tell him to move the truck. That's all it merited. At the most, give him a ticket but sheesh, they went all out on an honest working man. Betcha they don't treat drug dealers and pimps with such disdain but when it's someone trying to earn an honest living, better make sure to jail that person and hassle them as much as possible.

Jon, why not make speeders and reckless drivers top priority as they cause the most wrecks. I am sure people drive as bad over there as they do here yet cops don't stop people going 90 mph.

Don't be so silly. He was let off very lightly after causing and worsening a situation.

The hard shoulder exists so people can pull onto it in an emergency. It saved my family's life once. If that potato boiling cretin had been parked up, we would be dead.

I don't think you will ever have a sensible reasonable discussion with our friend here lol

Only so an interpreter could explain what was happening and give him the fine the same which was given to the Turkish truck driver, who by the way didn't make such a fuss.

Of course he had to sit in the car. They don't do the breathalyser and write the ticket standing on the hard shoulder of a motorway!

It's difficult to hear on this laptop because the volume doesn't go very high. I assumed they were going to take him to jail for it. Glad to hear it was only a fine though. I can understand why he would protest. it might have just been a mistake.

Jon, what they do here is let the driver stay in their vehicle, then the cop goes to his own vehicle to write the ticket, he comes back, gives the ticket and goes. Most the time the person getting the ticket doesn't get out of their car.

When someone is put in the cop car, the assumption is they are going to jail.

Looks like he had some fermented potatoes prior to his sobbing jag. Perhaps he was going through a tough personal emotional time as well. It didn't take much to break him. Pity

Driving for hours is hard work and a big truck is even harder than a car. It can wear a person down. It's much harder than it looks and exhausting. Poor guy had been driving for hours and was just hungry and tired. Maybe it was an emergency for him? An exhaustion emergency.

I say that he was angry at police for harassing him (or so he thought), However he couldn't tell them to f...off and getting angry fit in front of the police is not good idea at any rate.

So, he wasn't crying, not really - just venting his anger !

Of course it is a tough job and we all know it but still, what he did was wrong.
Yes, he was so exhausted that he started pealing potatoes.

He was hungry.

With all the thieves, traffickers, drug dealers and other dishonest people, let's do the logical thing and treat the guy earning his living driving a truck like the worst of them all because he parked on the shoulder so he could grab a quick bite to eat. OMG that is definitely the worst thing anyone can do!

Bloke broke the law - everyone agrees but.....

was it really needed to bring so many policemen to stop one (1) polish lory driver?

It reminds me series of old polish jokes like 'How many policemen you need to put light bulb on'.:-)
