Unfortunately it wasnt a minority.

Horrified at the whole thing I may be, but I'm not ashamed of strangers. Football hooligans being said to bring shame on an entire country is a load of ..er..tosh.

I seem to remember you banging on about the British abroad, trust me I have never in my entire life seen the British abroad act these animals and that goes for the women too they were just as disgusting!!!! and the parents that let the kids drink alcopops at 09:00 in the morning.....It took 24 hours to clear up the mess they left and Piccadilly still stinks of pi$$ and puke, for those that moan about the British in Krakow, trust me never host an event where you might get 100,000 of these f*cking aniamls!! The cleaner at my office got her top ripped open as she was just walking along and another girl got called an English *****!

T

Centuries ago it would have been 'hooligans' like those Rangers fans that fought at Bannockburn or Agincourt. They are upholding a proud tradition of these warrior isles.

I disagree. A group of 50 or more jumping on one man has nothing to do with the ancient laws of combat. If you want to fight, you should join a boxing club or get involved in sport where you can test yourself against other men instead of hiding behind a group.

The type of shite on display in Manchester is indicative of a malaise of western society where so called men are unable to act on their own and need validification in the acceptance of a group of fools. Its nothing more than consumerism gone bad. Many of those involved will have been hardline loyalists over from Belfast. To suggest that this is some sort of therepeutic exercise for them is ridiculous. This what they are about and there is nothing romantic about it.

You do a disservice to anyone who has served in real combat situations, be it against the nazis or whoever else, when comparing them to a bunch of drunken cowards.

Unfortunately it wasnt a minority.

So it was the majority? The majority of 120,000 Rangers fans? So some 60,000 Rangers fans rioted?

Whatever you say love...

I know many on this site will be totally lost by this logic but I know at least a few will understand me 100%.

I understand. It's just not for me.

I disagree. A group of 50 or more jumping on one man has nothing to do with the ancient laws of combat.

With all due respect, that's not really how it works these days. Most 'firms' arrange meets, away from the average football fan and the ever more watchful eye of the police. It's essentially two sets of hooligans agreeing to a scrap. As long as innocents aren't involved then I don't really care...

To suggest that this is some sort of therepeutic exercise for them is ridiculous. This what they are about and there is nothing romantic about it.

I think it is just that (therepeutic) although I agree there is nothing romantic about it (unless your name is Carlton Leach, Cass Pennant or Bill Gardner)

I seem to remember you banging on about the British abroad

Erm.. I think it must have been somebody else. At least I don't remember saying anything of the like. I'm frowning trying to remember a reason why I could have done before, but can't think of any because I've never witnessed any British people abroad before, but I guess I could have said something I just can't think of long ago or something..

As long as innocents aren't involved then I don't really care...

I read about police dog getting injured...poor thing...

Arctic Paul, you felt the need for hooligans to be in quote marks to show it wasn't your own view - surely you see that the acts of these football fans were mindless, idiotic acts of hooligans. Travel to watch a game on big screens..the screen you've shown up for breaks. I understand frustration and anger at that. Certainly the bottles thrown at the screens were [if still wrong] understandable.. but a riot, actual looting of [at least one] shop[s?] (behaving like pirates<.<), fighting and tearing up the place... these are acts of hooligans. I get that you were being humerous, but some comparison. Those who fight for their country together and those who spit the dummy all the way across the room and knock mummy's eye clear out for not getting to watch a game on television. It was plain stupidity.

Edit: - and stupidity with injurious results.

Child benefit aid to Polish (and other foreign) children in the UK

British child benefit paid to foreign children living abroad has rocketed by an astonishing 72 per cent in just nine months, to £33million a year.

Most of the money is going on 36,000 children still in Poland whose parents are cashing in on European rules that let them claim benefits in the UK after working and paying taxes here for a year.

Ministers were plunged into a new immigration row last night by the figures, only shortly after proposed tax rises for low-income British families sparked intense controversy."

I agree that paying out child benefit to children who don't even live here makes a mockery of the system, however, a system that's full of holes will be abused.

As someone who doesn't have children, but does work, I'm sick of my tax and NI being used in this way. I'm just as tired of having to bank roll British single parent chavs who have three or four kids (probably all with different fathers) and have no intention of supporting them with their own money.

It's a disgrace all round.

It's not just the British who are giving handouts. Other countries do it too.

Also, you should know that there are Benefits Workers from Britain working in other countries to ensure that those who are entitled get what is owed.

Check all the facts, not just those that suit you.

The parents work in Britain and pay taxes here-most of which stays in the UK.If their children were living here instead of Poland people like noimmigration would be complaining about them using schools and NHS resources. If a British person works in Germany etc they can also claim German child benefit for any children they choose to leave in Britain.

poles use more resources than they pay in tax, this is widely known. It costs £5000 alone, to keep one polak child in schooll for one year. The poles contribute NOTHING.

- Oho, hateful racist Polonophobic comments continue to be posted in this forum with total impunity, with the Admin's winking at them - encouraging them.

Is Admin of the same ethnick ilk as the psychopaths posting this crap? Is Admin racist towards the Poles? It seems the answer to these questions is: yes.

I work part time.

You've spelt the word "benefit" wrong in the title of your post.

While I agree with your basic premise, your general attitude and anger that comes over in your posts really isn't on.

The benefits system has been scammed for years by plenty of British people, so it can't be any wonder that foreigners will take what's on offer if it's only their integrity standing in their way.

"The System" needs a massive overhaul to stop cash being spent on those who don't deserve it.

Sorry I'll just translate that for you into non-inflammatory language - "Polish workers pay taxes and NI contributions and claim child benefit for their children". Nothing to see here.

It's worth mentioning the 1 BILLION pounds ripped out of the system every year by fake / unnecessary sickness benefit claims. 33 million doesn't seem so much eh?

The polish do not pay enough tax to cover the amount of public resources they consume. The amount of tax they pay is a pittance and they are entitled to have it rebated to them when leaving britain.
