immigration to Britain does not contribute to Britain economy and adversely affects the lives of British people under a new report published from the house of lords committee.

A very complex issue.Millions of Britons have left to become immigrants themselves in Australia,USA,Spain etc. They need to be replaced.Meanwhile millions of lazy Brits/non Brits would rather scrounge benefits than do the jobs the Polish do.Its crazy - we need migrants (NHS would collapse without them) but the balance in some places is all wrong.

you can find the published report here

parliament.uk/parliamentary_committees/lords_economic_affairs.cfm

and labour are worried that potential labour voters will be leaving Britain, all immigrants and ethnic minorities vote for socialist labour.

Yes, as part of a reciprocal agreement between Poland and the UK

but... wait... didn't a parliamentary committee also publish a report stating that there would only be 17,000 immigrants a year? Perhaps they're ... wrong?

But parliamentary reports are obviously not reliable. Nor is the testimony of people who get most of their information from the Daily Mail

Don't clap before the end of the show.

I'll tell you what's gonna happen.
They will introduce measures to limit the influx of foreign workers. New kind of business will appear - a herd of lecturers teaching how to circumvent the new regulations (if any), and they will make that all even sound, look and taste legit.

The businesses will find a way to prove they can't find British workers to suit their requirements. The foreigners will keep on coming. What business wants business gets.

I think he was quoting a recommendation from the House of Lords rather than saying it is fact.

Selective quoting and then commenting on it isn't fair, regardless of who wrote it.

Anyway, I doubt very much that the Government will act on anything that has been said today in the report. Whether some very well informed people say x, y & z about immigration or if the Lords say it's a good idea to manage it better or a even if it came from a thunderbolt from the heavens above, not much notice will be taken. I don't think the Government can be bothered with the paperwork or anything that might require them having to actually do anything.

Immigration, however great it is, should be managed. A kid of ten could have worked that one out for themselves.

Well i can't believe that anybody is really shocked from todays revolation that immigrants don't boost the UK economy at all and in fact only decrease the chances of british people from being able to find a job.

This dosen't mean i want all immigrants out but yet again points out that we need 'CONTROLLED IMMIGRATION' into this country, both from inside and outside of the EU. So now that most of the 'pro open door immigration' people can't argue that 'the immigrants contribute massively to the uk economy' what can they say now??? hhhhmmmm

if it wasn't so serious i would be laughing :) Now that we know what we know its time for action instead of argument!!!!

I doubt many of them will be flying in so most will be coming overland via Poland. Its such a lovely country many of them will want to stay.

Just to remind everyone that there is a Scottish Government that is actively encouraging immigration.

As far as I can see this report is inconclusive.
As for a UK wide report...mmmmm...how often is Scotland mentioned ? oh yes, page 71 which illustrates that Scotland does have a different requirement.
Any stats available for Northern Ireland ? Err No.
How unbiased and credible is anything the House of Lords produces ? Mmmm...
Was this a waste of money ? Yes.

OK, so what you're effectively saying is that by filling positions that Brits find "below them", immigrants are NOT boosting the economy...eh? How can that be? They are doing jobs that were previously not filled. Therefore they are paying taxes where tax was previously not paid (for example).

Don't kid yourself that if tomorrow, all the Poles went home, Brits would snap up the available jobs. Wouldn't happen. Those who whinge that Poles stole "their jobs" are those who wouldn't be caught dead working anyway...it's just something for them to moan about during the adverts on Jeremey Kyle...

Just to remind everyone that there is a Scottish Government that is actively encouraging immigration.

Exactly.

hopefully by that time we have our immigration policy sorted so that people who don't help our economy or better our country cannot come in. Whether or not Poles stay or go home i couldn't care less, as long as overall the UK benefits from having foreign workers.

As far as i'm concerned anybody who wants to get a good education, decent job etc etc ism ore than welcome to come to the UK. Anything else then they can stay in their own country or find another nation to scavinge off.

Just to remind everyone that there is a Scottish Government that is actively encouraging immigration.

Well good for Scotland, immigration is fine as long as its controlled
