Sorry, I honestly can't imagine which word you mean. The stars would tell me sth bad but I can't think exactly what it would be.

Milky, I think Harry said that and not Hague.

Harry

I know but the skin-head mentality was vomited by both.

Aha, I didn't see that, milky.

How can a country be an arsehole, Ironside?? There are some good people and some bad people there.

Aha, parts of it are, I-S. The only thing I would give some Scots is my right hand with 104kgs behind it. Many ugly people with bad attitudes and whiny accents. Too many neds and incompetent morons! No respect for them!

I'll get onto the bad points in a moment ;) ;)

Anyway the highlands are very agreeable

That they are, I-S. The west coast in general is much more agreeable than the east coast. They preserve our rich heritage, are more laid back and don't act out the rat race as much. Aberdonians are the lowest of the low and I think delph will back me up on this.

Seanus (is a fan of the west coast and highlands of Scotland)

I agree.

the highlands

Nice to look at but pretty scenery doesnt put food on the table.

Despite having a plethora of natural resources there is a lot of poverty in the Highlands.

For example, despite Scotland being one of the largest oil producers, the Highlands have higher petrol prices than inner London.

To bring things back on topic - in the Highlands, a lot of the workforce travel south for education and jobs. They are replaced by retired( usually English ) people who are not in the work pool.

This leaves a lot of seasonal jobs to be filled in the tourist industry.

The Polish culture fits very well with that of the Highlands.

Oh, I am much better today, thanks. I was at my wife's parents' place today. I hope they come to Scotland in October to see a few new things. I think they'd be interested in having a look around. It would involve a heck of a lot of translation if they came to see my parents but it would be worth it.

Hmm...it would seem that way :) Not all is bad for Poles in Scotland, LOL. That does make me laugh. Like Scotland was a prison camp where they were sent for a life of drudgery and pain. It might help some stop smoking as we introduced a ban back in March 2006. Also, it will help their English and maybe allow them to broaden their options in the event of a return to their heartland.

I dunno if they would have time to venture a bit further afield. The Granite City isn't exactly the most alluring of places for people. Deeside is not too far away. I used to cycle out that way a lot. There are some castles in the NE too :)

If they come over. They don't understand English so it may be hard for them if they are not escorted. The problem is that we would be staying for longer than them. My folks don't have the space to put us all up.

Bartolome is the main Polish poster in Scotland. It'd be interesting to hear more stories of how things are there through the eyes of Poles.
