Warsaw Chopin Airport Exchange

Hello

I decided to visit Warsaw city so I took a flight and arrived yesterday to Warsaw Chopin airport

I'm travelling solo, and I decided to exchange some dollars to zloty

I wanted to avoid the commissions exchanging many times, so I saw the exchange at airport and thought it's legit and solid one

I did exchanged 500 usd and got 1220 zloty (2.44 rate)

I learned today that's was a really bad rate ? Well, I guess there is nothing much to do as I was stupid and "accepted" the terms...

Can anyone please suggest me where I can exchange dollars to zloty at good rate please ?

Airports give really low exchange rates.


You need to go to a Kantor to exchange your money.
Here is a link showing the ones in Warsaw. Click on the Euro sign for those kantors which have on-line rates. Not all of them do, but you will have addresses for the ones that don't.

' Skup ' means buy, ' Sprzedaz ' means sell.

Those $120 ~ 150 dollars I lost won't ruin my stay in Warsaw (the city is amazing), just a warning to travelers - Do not exchange your money at airport!

Most are good, however a rule of thumb is that ones in railway stations, airports and very touristy areas (like the old town in Warsaw) aren't so good to change money. Having said that, there are two in the main railway station (the bit thet goes under the Marriott) that are OK.In Warsaw, the ones in shopping centres also tend to give poor rates for certain currencies.

Is there any airport in the world (or railway station) which offers a good deal on currency exchange? Don't think so.

To be fair, there are at least two good currency exchange places in Poznan train station - one inside the old building (which will close soon...) and one just outside.

Worth pointing out that you should always attempt to negotiate with them - it's only in my local one where the miserable old man that runs it doesn't seem to understand the concept.
