Warsaw airport to Bus Station Wilanowska stand number 14

Dear members
i'll visit Poland next september and i'm trying to understand the best and fastest way to reach Bus station Wilanowska from Warsaw airport.

My flight will land in Warsaw on 12.09.2012 at 12 and the Polski bus i've booked to reach Bialystok will leave at 1345 from Wilanowska so i'm scared to have not enough time to get it.

I've checked the different transport options but the direct bus line 331 it doesn't seem to run at that time and according to ZTM route planner i've only 2 options at 12.39 and 12.50 to take skm+tram+walking plus time it will take to understand where and how to get the ticket...

Do you have any suggestions? It will be better to catch a taxi? Is this expensive?
Thanks in advance for your cooperation
Francesca

Direct from Warszawa Okecie to Bialystok.

It should only be about €12 to Metro Wilanowska in a taxi. If you're determined to do it more cheaply get the 175 to Metro Centrum or the 188 to Metro Politechnika (whichever comes first) and get the Metro a few stops. It shouldn't take too long.

If there are any delays with baggage etc you should just jump in a taxi.

A better idea is to forget the bus to Bialystok - it is a bumpy and tiresome journey. Get the train instead; it is less uncomfortable and there will be fewer riff-raff.

Actually... to be fair, I've always encountered far more riff-raff on the average TLK train than on PolskiBus.

(works in your favour too if you want to avoid paying for a ticket...)

The intercity is the best way to get there. It is very cheap and the restaurant cars are cheap and good.

Not as cheap as PolskiBus. PolskiBus ticket from Warsaw to Białystok for 12.09.2012 costs now 5 PLN. TLK 2nd class ticket - 40 PLN.

JakDojadę.pl shows following connection:
1/ train to Warszawa Służewiec station
2/ tram from Służewiec:
2a/ line 31 to Metro Wilanowska
2b/ line 74 to Metro Wierzbno and Metro from Wierzbno to Wilanowska
taking about 30 minutes.

So you save the price of a cheap bottle of wine and end up bouncing along a country road for hours on a packed and stuffy bus. Cheap in every sense.

I wouldn't be so sure that PolskiBus buses are less comfortable than TLK trains. PB buses have air conditioning, electric sockets, Wi-Fi. TLK trains - not.

It's still a bus which nobody needs to get unless they' either on the breadline or mean and frankly TLK is also downmarket travel. There are normal trains to Bialystok. Comfortable, you can stretch your legs and there is a dining car with drinks.

Check the PKP website. All trains to Białystok are TLK. There are no IC trains going that direction. That said and done...By train it is 2,5 hours. I doubt any bus is going faster.

That's a shame. I used to enjoy sitting in the Wars car sipping a beer and watching the countryside roll by. Nevertheless, going so far on small roads by bus is much, much less comfortable and not much cheaper. Plus you can't get up and walk about.

Both train and bus has advantages and drawbacks. For example, in a bus (like the one from Warsaw to Białystok), the driver won't take more people than seats in the bus. Not to mention that all seats in this bus must be booked. Corridors in trains are sometimes full of standing people. However I doubt that there will be much people in a train from Warsaw to Białystok at 1 p.m. On the other hand, 3h 20min (in the bus) is not so long to make a big discomfort.

The decision is up to the author of thread. Who haven't answered yet.

Indeed. It's worth avoiding some of the specially cheap trains like the Pociag Sloneczny to Gdansk on public holiday weekends, but otherwise I can't see much of an advantage in coach travel, especially since Poland has cheap and good railways. I wonder why the OP booked it.

The journey shouldn't take you more than 45 minutes total even if there's traffic. Also, I know from my own experience that PolskiBus actually waits for you if you call and say you may be late. I remember how once they even waited 20 minutes for a late passanger! Don't bother with the trains, they're more expensive and not as comfortable at all.

not as comfortable at all.

Are you crazy? One glides smoothly along rails (and is cheap) the other bumps along 2 lane highways for hours.

Get a taxi - it shouldn't be expensive. The other option is the 148 bus to Metro Imielin, then the metro to Metro Wilanowska.

Get a 90 minute ticket from the machine at the airport bus stop (you'll see it from the door of Arrivals) and make sure you cancel it in the yellow machine on the bus. Keep you ticket - it will work on the metro too. The journey should take less than 30 minutes. But a taxi is cheap and much quicker.

this very nice website

One problem with that one is that it isn't a very nice website after all. In fact it's worse than useless. Look at the lady earlier in the thread who wanted to go to the same place and it recommended a railway train, then a tram, then 2 separate buses!

Jon, I am using that website quite a lot, and really don't find any fault with it...I think it is user-friendly, though often I doublecheck with the ZTM one as well.

Although I just now found a serious mistake on their site for bus 156 (which I use a lot from Metro Młociny)...For weekdays they use the old schedule, for other days the new one. Big mistake, because if there are only two buses per hour, you have to wait a long time for the next one.

Maybe they are not so reliable as I thought....
