My parents are coming over from Sweden for Easter and would like to drop by in Prague for a few days. They want to go on april 6, but the only bus they can find going there (Orbis) is already fully booked. Anyone knows of any other good way of getting to Prague? I suppose it's possible to go by train, but I think one has to go via Germany, or at least change several times.

There used to be a direct overnight train, but it looks like everything runs through Katowice now. There are a couple of sleeper trains leaving from Katowice though.

Eurolines runs to Prague.

If you're going to be three people, why not just rent a car and drive down? Takes about 3-4 hours. The roads are nice once you get past Klodzko, and it's highway from Hradec Kralove.

Have they stoppped the overnight train from Krakow to Prague? That was a great service it used to leave Krakow at midnight and get into Prague in the early morning. Also a great experience to anyone who has taken this route, not to mention the wake up call when you crossed the border for passport checks at about 4 in the morning.

I hope it still exists it was a great journey I met some great people on that train.

I remember that, used to stop in Miedzylesie in the middle of the night... It was especially nice in the winter when they took the pissed off wet dog through the train.

There was a direct train, but it was canceled on last autumn. Since then you have to change trains in Pardubice in Czech Republic. It is not going through Germany but through mountains/hills between Czech and Poland. Entire trip takes around 5 to 6 hours. I was travelling using that option in last December. It was bearable Czech train but nothing fancy.

PS. Be aware, there are more than one stop in Pardubice, you have to choose proper one.

Takes about 3-4 hours.

What kind of speed do you have to do to manage it in that time?
