Traveling From Warsaw to Berlin - train?

Hello friends...

I would like to visit Warsaw to discover the universities there and then I would like to visit and have a look on the universities in Berlin with my friends too.

When I arrive to warsaw airport:

- how it is possible to take a train to berlin?
- Is there a train station under the airport or it is far?
- Tell me which is the best way to go from warsaw airport to warsaw train station which leads me to Berlin?

Someone give me the full details please.

Go Warsaw central the outbound trains to Berlin are at 6.30 am and 9.30am, if you book more than 10 days in advance you can buy a ticket for 29 euro each way, don't forget to reserve a seat as well.

there may be some restrictions with regard to some trains/days.

in my experience the 10 days in advance doesn't seem to be a strict rule.

- Isn't it possible to buy the ticket in the train station before 1 or 2 hours from the departure of the train from warsaw to berlin?

- How much is the distance between Warsaw airport to warsaw train station in KM? And How much does the Taxi needs?

I hope that i 'am not being heavy and accurate in my questions to you Mr. warszawski and other users.

But I would like to be sure about my next trip.

warszawski was explaining the 29 euro ticket because a normal ticket, just before traveling, may be prohibitively expensive for some people.

if u want to go to berlin first... why don't u fly into berlin

Yes it is and you will pay the FULL price.


When you get in a taxi in Warsaw the start cost is PLN 6.80 and PLN 2.80 per KLM

As Wrocaw previously mentioned, when you ask a question we try to give the value option. If you have money coming out of your pockets, you could even buy a ticket on the train.

So now I conclude the following:

- It is possible to buy the ticket from the train station.

- The train station isn't far from the airport not more than 5 KM.

Yes. If you want to speak English, you don't need to queue at the ticket window - go to 'Anna Travel' in the gallery above (you'll see it easily). They have English speaing staff and sell the same tickets at the same price.


Yes. The taxi prices mentioned are accurate. Also there is a direct bus, number 175. Buy your ticket at the machine at the bus stop and cancel it as soon as you get on.


Yes. Warszawa Centralna - it is Warsaw's main station. The train also stops at Warszawa Zachodnia, but if you don't know Poland that's only for the adventurous.


Don't bother. By road it is a long and unpleasant journey, and the train fare is cheap.

Could you tell me when the bus number 175 is available and ready to go?

Is there is a website which shows the timetable of the buses and trains in poland and specially from airport to train station of warsaw to berlin.

I 'am still in doubt about the distance between the airport and the train station! How much is it?

Every few minutes, from early in the morning until quite late. The bus goes from right outside the arrivals hall and stops right outside the station. There is also a night bus following the same route.


You don't need a timetable for the bus from the airport to the station. For trains to Berlin, Polish railways (PKP) has an English language website - google it.


Why? Three posters have mentioned this. Each of us is right. If you still have doubts, try google maps.

JonnyM there is renovation work at W.C ,all the upstairs area is closed off. So to get tickets you go to the International section, which is behind the the main stairs, They have English speaking staff.


It may be 7 Klm at max, it is a straight forward journey and if you ask someone on the bus for Warszawa centralna they will help you.

I've used that a few times. The kiosks downstairs are also good, but not usually English speaking.

Is the renovation still going on?

Yes, ay least until the summer.

About EC and ICE Trains - Warsaw to Berlin

Hello friends

I want to go from Warszawa Centralna to Berlin by a train

my question is.

I have a big luggage with 30 KG to 40 KG

Is it possible to carry it in the train? and is there a place for big luggages in EC and ICE trains?

Is there a limit weight for luggage? or I have to pay for extra weight in the train?

Someone tell me some info about that please.

that's quite heavy, but how do we know the size.

they don't count suitcases, etc so u should be ok with whatever it is.

The size of the luggage:

Height:70 CM
Width: 45 CM
Depth: 30 CM

u should be ok, if u can get it through the door.

I found this image, which shows where to put the big luggage sizes.

But I still don't if this train is EC or ICE.

it doesn't matter. u will have to be one of the first on the train in order to find space for your luggage.

do we have ICE in Poland ? i thought it was german.

Occasionally, you might see in addition a sign for "Fahrgemeinschafsdienst", meaning a car pooling service. This is of course a paid trip shared with more than one or two passengers who want to save money, as train fares from Warsaw to Berlin can get a bit steep!

Not sure about Warsaw, but in Berlin, English oughtn't be a problem, at least at the major embarkation points:-)
