Any idea what a fair fare might be to Międzylesie from Frederic Chopin Airport?

the most expensive ones on the list are the ones who'd take you and ...lots of your .. baggage or the rest of your football team

I kind of figured something was up with the range. Corporate, large party etc...

Thanks again!

Most of those fares seem cheap. It obviously where in Miedzylesie, but 80 to 100 is a fairer guess, especially if you use MPT or ELE (who have an airport franchise).

It obviously where in Miedzylesie

Lets say it is near the Instytut Pomnik - Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka...

Do the cabs standing at the airport charge more for the privilege of standing there or is it cheaper to call one of the companies on Kowalski's link?

At the airport, they start the meter when you get in - no waiting. Better to walk outside and use the one at the head of the taxi stand rather than get one from the guys who approach you by the door.

I wouldn't trust any on that list, especially if you're from out of town. I'm a very heavy taxi user and I don't recognise any of those names. BTW, the prices also seem dodgily low. Damel, Bayer and Volfra are cheap, however there are occasionally 'issues' with the first two, and Volfra generally need plenty of notice since they're busy.

One issue that just occured to me is that you'll be travelling to Miedzylesie outside the first taxi zone which can make it much more expensive. From the airport cab rank, it will probably cost around ($32 Canadian), much more after 10pm or on a Sunday. You can however be sure they're insured, sober and probably decent.

A good bet might be a local firm - there's a list of ones from Wawer here: panoramafirm.pl/taxi/mazowieckie,,warszawa,wawer

If you use one of the official taxi companies waiting in front of the terminal, you are safe. Ignore the sharks hanging around in the terminal building, even when they have some (self-made) badge with taxi written on them. They are illegal.

I am using MPT a lot since many years.

That seems comparable to what I would expect to pay here in Canada.. The fare would be around 2 pm, during a weekday.

Many thanks Kowalski, Jon and Sobieski.

Międzylesie

Basically you want a taxi to Wawer, the route is much shorter these days as there is a bridge over the Wisla from Siskorskiego, I would guess the price should be no more than 60-80 Zlotys. Arrange for a taxi from Wawer to collect you at the airport.

60-80 Zlotys

Remember that the place he's going is several miles into the second zone. This will put the fair up.

Mind you, airport taxis are better than they were. The one I got yesterday was 30zl to Rondo de Gaulle'a (from the ELE stand outside arrivals). I got one a bit later from Volfra (they really are the cheapest, but you always have to order - now they take orders online or by SMS) and it was 32 from Rondo De Gaulle'a to the very furthest bit of Bielany.

I do not understand why you guys have / had an issue with the airport taxis in Okęcie. (I am not talking about the unlicensed gits in the arrival hall, that's just a bunch of criminals)

I am also quite often going to the airport, and never had an issue with the licensed ones.
With MPT I paid recently (if I remember correctly) from Bielany (the beginning) to the airport for 50 PLN (via Trasa AK, which is a bit longer, but makes up in travel time0

MPT, ELE and Super Taxi all have Airport licenses. All are generally OK. Avoid any others soliciting for business there.

He is going to "Aleja Dzieci Polskich 20, 00-999" it is almost a straight road from the airport, at 2pm he will miss rush hour. There has been a lot of new roads built around Anin/Wesola & Wawer, so the travel time is reduced.

I don't have an issue, I always take a taxi from the airport rank, mostly I also try to take MPT or Eko taxi. The difference is I speak Polish and I know Warsaw road network very well, so no-one will be taking me for a ride.

Fair enough. It always pays to know the local scene.

The issue isn't how straight the road is. The issue is the sign saying 'Druga Strefa'. Once the taxi passes that they go to a much higher tariff.

It does indeed. Worth mentioning that the wrong sort of driver will try it on with anyone - even if the passenger has lived in town all their life.

BTW mods, it might be nice to remove the persons address, two posts ago.

The address is for ' Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka ' why would you want it removed?
