Quickest and easiest way of travelling from Miedzyrzec Podlaski to Krakow?

I've just bothered myself with a 350km journey from Miedzyrzec Podlaski which is far east to my beloved Krakow. I had planned to visit Krakow for a weekend but then a good Polish friend 'spat the dummy' when i told him he wasn't part of my visit plans. Anyway, He's convinced me to drop by his albeit briefly. Now i'm flying into Chopin, and here's my grand plan:

Land at Chopin on Thursday, at around midnight, hire a car and do a good 2hrs drive to podlaski.
Then Friday Evening, do the mighty 350km drive to Krakow. Do my business and fly out on Monday from Katowice.

Now time is very paramount as i have a long-ish to do list in Krakow, so i would prefer to spend my time in Krakow rather than travelling.

If you sense any flaw in my plan, please advice or better yet, suggest a grander plan!

Thanks in advance

PS: I've not been back in Poland for over 2 years now..I'm sure a lot has changed - especially traffic laws. Anything i should know of?

That plan is terrible. The drive from Miedzyrzec Podlaski to Krakow is going to take you a good six hours and the first four of those hours (from Miedzyrzec to Rzeszow) are going to be on country roads which in a lot of spaces don't even have the imaginary third lane.

Why not invite your friend to meet you in Warsaw?

Thanks Harry, Did you mean Invite my friend to Krakow? I suggested that in my first response to his 'tantrums'. However, he's working Saturday, and he can't travel on Sunday! Could i fly from Warsaw to Krakow? Probably more expensive but wouldn't it be quicker?

Convince your friend to visit you in Warsaw. From Warsaw to Kraków you can go with relatively fast train (3.5h). He can be in Warsaw in 2h from Miedzyrzec Podlaski both with bus and train. It's completely not on your way. Look at e-podroznik.pl for public transport. Planes don't have much sense when train takes less than 4h.

No, I mean invite him to Warsaw. He could come to Warsaw on the Thursday evening, share your hotel room Thursday night and then get a train home Friday afternoon/evening about the same time that you go to Krakow.

You could but it isn't much quicker (maybe 30 minutes quicker, at the most); however, it is more expensive and a lot more hassle. I'd certainly take the train, even if I wasn't paying.

Thanks guys. It seems i underestimated the Warsaw-Miedzyrzec Podlaski journey. My reasoning was, if i'm flying to Warsaw, I might as well go to Miedzyrzec Podlaski! I think this journey is the weakest link in my plan. Thanks for the tips guys, Warsaw it is then, although admittedly i was getting excited abt seeing Miedzyrzec Podlaski. It's not happening now!

What's the Spring like? we've been pampered with this year's UK Spring sun. It averages 13C, which is not bad at all.

Not really. The journey Warsaw to Miedzyrzec Podlaski is not too bad at all. The killer would be the journey from Miedzyrzec Podlaski to Krakow.

I can tell that you have never been there. I have, I'm in no hurry to go back there.

What's the Spring like?

Glorious so far.
