Hi,

Our group of 4 people are going from Wroclaw to Krakow for a weekend. Considering convenience, parking, and costs, is it better to drive or to take a public transportation?

Thanks for your suggestions!

4 people, you might as well drive. The only problem is the toll barriers at Bielany, Gliwice and between Katowice-Krakow. But it's not tourist season, so it should be clear.

Having said that, the 3 hour IC connection between Wroclaw-Krakow is very attractive.

Do you know how much tolls would cost and how long the drive (realistic + foreigners!) would be? Lastly, is Krakow welcoming in terms of parking and driving in the city?

Tolls are about 17zl from Gliwice to Katowice and 10zl each at the toll barriers in Myslowice and Balice. Driving should take about 3-3.5 hours if everything is clear.

Krakow doesn't seem particularly unwelcoming - similar to Wrocław in my opinion.

hey. Krakow is a real nightmare when it goes to parking - in my opinion the worst of big polish cities to do so.
but anyway - you are bound to pay for parking always and wherever you are in the city center...almost impossible to find some free spots like you may find in Wroclaw or Warsaw ;-)

I know this drive well ;) do the math for your car Gas will probably cost you minimum 100zl + 30zl or so in tolls. / 4 30 zl each

Polskibus.com is also about the same price 20-28zl per person each way. (slightly slower of course) but will drop you right in Krakow Centre.

If you do drive here is a parking map:
zikit.krakow.pl/mapa-strefy-platnego-parkowania.html

although parking is free on Sunday in city and maybe saturday too?

I own 3 cars in Krakow and parking is dodgy at best haha - Be prepared to drive around a lot searching for a parking spot.
