I have heard that people don't tip as much as they do here in the sates.
I usually tip 18% here.
How much is expected in Poland vs our 15-20%?

Poles may be cheap but American rate is insane!!! Check with other countries in Europe and find out who else is cheap :-)

If the service was good (i.e. the waiter did more than just his job) I leave 10% rounded up to the next 10zl. But if the service was only acceptable, it's 0%. Tips are earned, not given.

I went to Poland recently and I had couple of dinners in restaurants over there. Each time I tipped around 15-20% and each time I saw deep shock in waitress' eyes and speechlessness, so I guess I was over generous. But the service was very nice so I didn't mind.
