A few years back, I visited a place in the Tri-city area that was represented to be a royal palace from before the partitions. I can't find it on the Internet. What is its name, and where is it?

It probably was Oliwa. It looks to have been renovated a bit since I last saw it, and grounds look nicer in the pictures. I will need to check my old photos when I can find them to be sure.

Oliwa. It looks to have been renovated

Yes - it's a shame that Poland doesn't yet have a "National Trust" where historical buildings are saved for the nation through public membership. Maybe there are just too many such monuments, but this palace has gone through an extensive, yet shoddily done, renovation recently.

It's an important start!

If you saw the terrible state this palace (nowy pałac opacki) was in immediately after the end of the war, you'd be shocked.

Sorry Ziemowit, we know..I live there ( well, obviously, not there..)
The fact remains that the latest exterior renovation is cheap and shoddy, because the proper funding is not in place. I will photograph the place to illustrate my point. Oh, and dogs are not allowed in the gardens, but drunken bums abound. It's a work in progress, but when government employees renovate their own property they do so properly.

This piecemeal renovation is a scandal.
