Then no. I see you probably guessed by the shape of leaves but it is not Polish. :)

I see you probably guessed by the shape of leaves

Yes, they are quite distinctive, but I do know that Poland produces an awful lot of blueberries, so you can forgive me for thinking it is a Polish blueberry bush.

I won`t tell you now because someone else might have a try at it, but one clue - I have already offered a hint. :)

See you tomorrow.

I suppose we ran into a misunderstanding. By Polish blueberry I mean the one native to Poland. The red -leafed one isn`t such. Where from then?

While you are thinking about previous pics, I will add a new one:

Who is the man? And what is happening?

He is a Warlock signing his soul to the devil?
OP pawian  221 | 25273

:):), I don`t know Warlock. Only Faustus. :)

Probably nothing. The same as Warlock. :):)

Anyone notice the creepy doll to the left???
Atch  22 | 4255

It's just an ordinary baby doll, but the photo makes it look as if there's something like ectoplasm emanating from it! Anyway, His Nibs is obviously a priest and he's probably doing his January visits as Maf says, but he's wearing his vestments and the table is laid with the 'good' white tablecloth so I would say he's doing a blessing of the house. It's not properly set up for Communion or Mass. He's probably just received a donation from the household and is recording in his book.

those are all features of the january visits in Poland (ime) not necessarily the full garb (that varies) but the candles on the table and cross and little bowl with holy water and the blessing of the house...

where I am they also keep a little book of who's living at a particular address and write/update that

I know someone who actually sued the local parish to get removed from such details. It transpired that the church is exempt from RODO and other data protection stuff, which is surreal. The judge in the case asked the lawyer for the Church to show goodwill, and they refused!

uhhhh why? the details came from the person or their parents in the first place.... why not just refuse kolęda?

It was quite interesting - the priest turned up and their flatmate had given them details of everyone staying there (without asking first!). They weren't home at the time, but I think they were right to be furious about both the priest enquiring about other people staying there and at the girl for handing over their details. It was seemingly quite intrusive, as he asked about them having partners and so on.

meh, if they're not catholic then a local church they don't belong to knows where they live (hardly worth expending a lot of emotion over) and if they are catholic then they shouldn't mind (catholic does mean 'all encompassing' after all).

I can better understand being a bit miffed at the roommate though 'furious' seems a bit hysterical... (unless one had been bvggered by a priest in the past or something)

Mafketis and Atch, points for you, it is indeed kolęda, ie., local priest`s visit and blessing to the house. In our parish, it takes place every two years because priests want to stay longer in each home to talk about parishioners` problems..

Also, kudos to Dirk and Miłosław for amusing ideas. :)

However, a few details need straightening but I am sure you will like to learn sth new.

and little bowl with holy water

Actually, there is no bowl, what you see above the cross is a clay manger with a little figure of Jesus which one of my kids made in the kindergarten.

He's probably just received a donation from the household

No, priests in our parish are not allowed by the chief parson to collect donations during kolęda, anyone who wants to do it can bring it to the church.

and is recording in his book

Actually, he is writing the info about kolęda in one of my youngest kids` religion copybooks. You can see another one waiting nearby. Older kids don`t have to show their copybooks.

Anyone notice the creepy doll to the left??? It's just an ordinary baby doll, but the photo makes it look as if there's something like ectoplasm emanating from it!

Actually, it is not a doll but a dancing and singing toy ape. My daughter got it from Santa Claus.

To reward your efforts, another one:

What is the context of showing this banner in Poland?

Pensioners and other seniors (the most common group encountered during the KODerast days) protesting PiS and sucking up to the Jewropean Union hence the blue flag

Yes, perfect! :):) I see you are an expert on KOD. :):)

Protesters alluded to PiS`s methods of ruling the country and voiced their objection. I thought it was a very accurate slogan.

Btw. I saw a lot of young people too, even with kids.

PS. Can you also guess the location?

The building looks familiar. Warsaw? Then again, most rynki looks the same with only their size and color of buildings being different.

But I saw a lot of young guys too, even with kids.

I mostly saw people that looked like they escaped a nursing home.

What is the context of showing this banner in Poland?

Soviet morons and lefties in action. They're unable to even protest properly and in Polish.

PS. Can you also guess the location?

Warsaw/ I can tell you it was in 2016.

I mostly saw people that looked like they escaped a nursing home.

Yes, and isn`t it wonderful that despite their age, those people still want to fight for free Poland? I am always amazed when I see so many grannies in demos. I sometimes approach them and ask for reasons, especially when I see she is trembling of cold but is standing firmly with her little Polish flag. They always answer they do it for their grandkids. :):) Polish babcias are wonderful creatures, if you haven`t got one, you are really unlucky.

Sorry, guys, it wasn`t Warsaw.

Soviet morons and lefties in action.

Sorry, the milk has already been spilt. Nobody will believe this sudden twist of yours. :):)

YES!!! (I feared that old riddle already got fogotten) I was amazed to see that bush change colour in autumn time. Anybody who wants to see that great view google: American blueberry field autumn.

YES. Krakow. How did you know? :) Did you recognise that tenement house in the background?

Nah, I just ponder over them awhile :)

Don't think I'm going to get the miserable looking 'Valentine's Day' man though ;)

How did you know? :)

I have a good memory and tons of photos of Kraków's architecture :)

Ironside and Dirk, are you still with us?

This one is a multiple choice exercise:

Decide which one of the following refers to the presented photo:
1/ Let`s play rabbits, shall we?
2/ Fuk you twice/ Double fuk you.
3/ Missus, two beers for me.
4/ I am so horny
5/ Look out, those two drones are filming us!
6/ None of the above.

I see they hold a banner with KOD. So it means:
one a traitor always a traitor.

You mean: Such two traitors like three of us will suffice for four? :):) Sorry, wrong answer. :)

I see they hold a banner with KOD.

No, don`t worry about it, KOD actually stands for Kittens Oppose Domestication.

Don't think I'm going to get the miserable looking 'Valentine's Day' man though ;)

I hate telling students direct answers, I prefer to make them think. :) Well, you are on the right path, could you develop this "miserable man" ? It is indeed important in this case. Why miserable?
