Is it the central attraction on your mantelpiece, pawian? ;) ;)

It has an illuminati sign in the middle so I'm thinking Tusk's bedroom ;) ;) Seriously tho, in the Polish Central Bank or somewhere in Kazimierz, the Jewish quarter of Kraków? The Vatican don't publicise so openly ;)

No it doesn't

It looks like a mid to late-Eighteenth Century reliquary.

Pawian, I have a question for you or anyone else who knows about it.

I was driving past AGH University today and I was talking to a friend about the sculptings at the main entrance. Do you know when and what style of art they are?

My friend also told me that they are "new" sculptings and that the old ones were taken away.

I am just curious, as they look so powerful, I think I am mistaken in thinking they are something from communist time.

What is it?

The eye of God!

AGH University

I've just checked it and the Internet sources says that's a sculpture by Bronisław Chromy revealed last year

The 'Illuminati' were a short-lived anti-monarchist group in Bavaria, over 200 years ago. That sign was not theirs. It is older. It's called the Eye of Providence and was a key part of the iconography of the Eighteenth Century.

1935 by Jan Reszka... i'm not sure if they were replaced, the main building was occupied by German government during WWII...

Jon, I beg to differ. They use that symbol and I recognise it. Maybe it comes from before their time but they took it over as theirs.

A nun which was teaching me religion in elementary school was drawing similar sign to mark the God.

It couldn't possibly be last year.

Existing:

dfsgsdfg

ergtsdgtrf

Original: (I think, I just found them):

zdfghdfg

Hmmm... according to the internet, cough cough, the original ones were destroyed by the Nazis and the existing ones are doing the same actions but a different style, my question is what style?

The eye of God!

Nope.It is a miniature replica of the 18 century organ which got burnt in 1974. Now St. Elizabeth`s church in Wrocław is collecting money to rebuild it.

socrealism

Yes but I thought they might not have been for the style is slightly different but that could just be up to the individual sculptor rather than a different genre.

I actually really like social-realism artwork, it's very powerful looking.

I especially like the chappie,a builder I think who apears to be holding a plaque extoling the virtues of MARY ENGLES LENIN.................if you look closely you can see that one arm of the X in Marx has been worn down to spell Mary, a nice bit of subversion ......Ive a photo somewhere but Im sure Im not the first to have noticed it :)
