Ok, round 2. Is it a bison or now extinct Auroch?

Sorry, I need to repeat: It is a very serious mammal, which enabled people to do great things in history.

To make it sound more serious, let`s change people into mankind.

Let`s start from the very logical beginning: where does the shadow come from?

It comes from a monument - someone is sitting on the horse.

I prefer the old term mankind.
Humankind seems like you are talking to aliens to me :-)

Exactly. Do you know who it is? Why not tell us? :)

or humankind....

You mean PC now? It has never occured to me to apply it to mankind, let alone I even didn `t know such a word as humankind exists. :):)

I see it for the first time.

I've used it for over 20 years, but this kind of thing works differently in different countries.... I have the feeling it's a normal alternate to mankind in the US, maybe not the

UK...

talking to aliens

the would be 'humans' (especially if the final syllable is fully pronounced...)

As far as I imagine, the US is much more obsessed with PC than Europe.

in the meantime:

Which museum in Krakow is it?

Oh no, The UK is at least as bad, if not worse than The US when it comes to being PC.
That is one reason we all love Poland so much :-)

@atch
You have a very dismissive attitude to Polish history.
Is that perhaps because Poland actually has a history whereas your country was subdued and overwhelmed for nearly 800 years?

He wasn't that faithful himself.

I don't know if that is true or not.Do you?
But it doesn't matter because he was The King.
In those days he could do whatever he liked.
We can't judge people from 50 years ago with todays crazy morals.
Less so people from ancient history.
Do you not get that?

I'm merely asking you to expand on your statement that Polish history is beyond belief. I'd say it was about on a par with that of most European countries.

Poland actually has a history whereas your country

Has an even longer history, including the system of electoral monarchy. And that's basically what I'm saying, that the history of different countries, particularly in a single region, contains similarities, parallels and equivalents. Poles and Irishmen for example fought along side each other in Napolean's army, in the Irish Legion which admitted a small number of Poles to its ranks. So both countries were participants in the Napoleonic wars even though both countries were under foreign occupation at the time. Of course that's what led them there in the first place and Napolean hoped to land the Irish Legion in Ireland as an invasion force to keep the British army occupied but like many of the best laid plans of mice and men.................

Do you know who it is?

It is King of Poland Władysław Jagiełło on horseback from the Grunwald monument, although Ziemowit should get the credit for this as I wouldn't have got it without him mentioning a man on horseback. Now when I look at the shadow it is obvious, but couldn't see it before.

Which museum in Krakow is it?

Is it in the National Museum?

Bismarck? LOL!

Nope. Such monuments were pulled down just after WW2.

Now when I look at the shadow it is obvious, but couldn't see it before.

The photos show the route which we covered during the Night of the Museums. The Barbican, NBP bank building, Jagielło monument etc.

No, it was Czartoryski Museum.

Why was I pissed off with this view?

Who wouldn't be angry?! Sandals and socks?!?!... a crime against all that is decent and right! (one I've sometimes been guilty of.... but I don't justify it)

Maf, you would be right it that was an adult foot. It wasn`t. Kids should be treated leniently.
So, I was angry at sth else. :):)

A perfect answer! I hate when smokers drop their fags on the pavement/street etc. When I see it, I ....... never mind. :):)

This is the beginning of a known street. What is opposite it? I mean, behind the photographer ?

Poland is to generous, do it in Thailand and a cop sees you do it you will pay a huge fine or go to jail.

The cigarette butt...

well if he gives kids a pass for socks and sandals I think he should also give them a pass for flickin' a butt onto the street...

for adults it's just one more reason to dislike smoking and to encourage vaping which doesn't leave a trail of litter...

Wawel Castle. Those houses on Kanonicza street are the give away. I was standing a bit nearer in my photo:

Are there any riddles in the series of 3 photos? :)

Ok, I will help Joker to create some riddles to his latest pics.

Bagel kiosk - what two kinds of bagels were available in Krakow of communist times?

St. Mary`s Cathedral: What happened to the architects of the church?

The wall art gallery - as a small kid, I was walking past the gallery with my mother and saw/heard a middle aged woman hollering at artists who were standing next to their exhibitions for sale. She was extremely pissed off. What was the reason?

Are those dried catkins from maybe willow or hazel tree? That's what they look like to me. Were you making some sort of syrup or something else medicinal/herbal?
OP pawian  221 | 25808

Yes! Except they weren`t willow or hazel. They were fresh tips from pine tree branches. I had read somewhere about their properties but my syrup was a failure. :)

Point! :):)

I can only find Obwarzanek Krakówski :( although it seems pretzels were popular too.......

What happened to the architects of the church?

Is this to do with the legend regarding the height of the two towers?
OP pawian  221 | 25808

The Jewish term bagel is another name for obwarzanek. A relative of mine used the Polish version of the Jewish word:bajgiel.

Sorry, I meant two kinds of flavour which were available in the past.

Yes, the legend.
