Polish passport and travel to Poland - US citizen

I'll be traveling to Poland in 2 weeks to work on my polish passport. I understand I need to register my foreign birth in Poland. I have a U.S. passport so I'll only be able to stay in Poland for 3 months... are there ways to stay longer? I've heard of Temporary residency cards. Btw I'll be traveling with my husband who is polish and was born in Poland so I'm hoping that would make it easier to acquire a card? Any one know how this works? :)

It's always better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

This method also allows you to play stupid or forgetful. It worked for Hillary.

You can do what I did on my first trip in September. To avoid detection and any inconvenient conversations at the Chopin airport, I flew to Berlin and took a train to Warsaw. The only person I spoke to on that train was the waitress.

Before you leave, practice: Officer, I didn't know about the 3-months rule. Really. I am sooo sorry. I promise never to do it again.

Or, alternately: I love Poland soooo much I forgot to leave.

If you decide to follow my brilliant advice, google "penalties for staying longer in Poland" or something like that.
