Dzien dobry! I'm planning my first trip to Poland from Dec29-Jan6. From Dec29-Jan2 (only morning; I leave to Warsaw at 9am) I'll be in Krakow. I'm having trouble planning an itinerary because I know Jan 1st most places close for New Year's. I'm just wondering- does anyone know what places will be open? I have looked at all the main establishments' websites and other travel websites but most of them don't say anything about Dec31/Jan1.
(And before anyone says anything, YES, I know this seems like a very tourist-y itinierary but please keep comments to yourself. If you have more pleasant recommendations, I'm all ears. Any recommendations in the main Rynek and Kazimierz and Warsaw for places to see or eat are appreciated!)
These are the specific places I am wondering if are open:
Słowacki Theater (just for seeing the interior)
19th Century Polish Art Gallery
Cloth Hall (Sukiennice)
Town Hall Tower (heard mixed info- it's open but can't be climbed; can be climbed; not open at all)
St. Mary's Basilica (just viewing; not worship)
St. Francis' Basilica (just viewing; not worship)
And if anyone knows if most/some restaurants, pharmacies, etc. will be open, please let me know. Also, I know most of these places close regularly in mid-afternoon (4-6pm beyond), but if they are also closed on Dec 31st please include that. I've looked everywhere for info on open hours but I figured maybe someone in these forums will know. Dziękuję bardzo!
