Names and checking - a question for regular Ryanair passengers.

A friend and his wife (Both Poles) are flying Ryanair for the first time from Poland to Spain.
They are worried about hidden charges they might incur at the airport.
First of all are their names: They both have second names on their ID cards but they did not put them onto the booking.
Is this going to be a problem when it comes to checking in at the airport?
Second: The checking in itself.
They have paid for checking in their luggage online. Do they have to check themselves in online on the day of flight before they get to the airport

or do they just take their printed itinerary to the airport without checking in first? They have one print out with both their names, do they have to print two- one for each?

1) I have never put my second name on the booking and it has never been a problem.

2) You absolutely have to check-in online and print out your boarding card before you get to the airport. It doesn't matter whether you have luggage. If you just take the itinerary to the check-in desk, there is a surcharge of 70 euros

per passenger per leg of the journey! You can print out your boarding cards from 15 days before the flight up to 4 hours before. Make sure you print out a boarding card for each passenger for each leg including return flights.

valid ID or passports on them, surchages at the airport?

It's perfectly legal (it's contained in the terms & conditions) and it's highly profitable. Or at least it is short-term anyway. Interestingly, RyanAir are often claimed to follow the Southwest Airlines business model but that airline has excellent customer service. I think that once RyanAir have p!ssed off enough people, there will be space for a customer service focused budget airline. Personally I'll never fly RyanAir: they have ripped off too many of my friends and they are actually often more expensive than proper airlines.

It's a fee for printing your boarding pass and checking in at the airport more than anything else.

Hello, I was just wondering if lettera such as ł in the second name matter if they are typed as l on the boarding pass, even thought the passport has them written as ł?

You should warn your friends if they have paid for 15/20 Kilo's of check in luggage do not exceed this weight even by the smallest amount. They are allowed 10 Kilo's as carry on luggage, the carry on bags have a size restriction.

I read all the warnings on websites about this. Then I accidentally showed them the wrong passport (I have two) and they waved me through as normal.


Yes - absolutely. Otherwise it will be expensive. But don't worry about the "day of the flight" thing - their online check in opens long before that.


For boarding pass yes (and print spares) for the e-ticket, worth doing just in case.
