Interestingly enough, most of the Poles that live here are much more into the history threads and tend to stay away from the "life in Poland" threads. For expat Poles, it seems to be the exact opposite.

Wrong there. Polish Nurses have English lessons and its its a job requirement now.

My GF is a student Nurse in Krakow.

It is definitely not a job requirement for a Polish nurse in Poland to speak English. This could be regional, or even vary from one hospital (or even a position) to another.

Oh, and were the nurses described in this thread hired the day the incident happened or, say, 20 year ago when all had Russian at school but few were taught English?

Basically when Germanics visit a foreign land they show no respect.The reason is that they smell lack of laws and corruption from the time they set their feet in Slavic and mediteranean countries and so they do what they are not allowed to do home.

The reason why they are required to speak English is so that they can communicate with other EU citizens who are equally entitled to treatment in Polish hospitals.

Thats not fitting with your little poland worldview either? EU citizens have a RIGHT to treatment in Poland.

BTW, Polish Nurses are trained to British Royal School of Nurses standards - they are at least the same standard of training, possibly higher.

Now you're saying that "Polish" nurses have to pass English exams. That is not true either. In some schools English is among compulsory subjects, in others it is not.


That's kinda true. The visa requirement was imposed indeed, but the culprits are only sorta Czechs, but most not really.

Do you work for the Polish tourist industry? That's a great slogan to use to get people to visit.
