Krakow a safe and friendly city for foreigners? Read this!

I thought Krakow is safe city.

Unfortunately this is EVERYDAY reality in Krakow.

Foreigners are beaten up and filled with blood in fights, because polish people had enough of foreigners.

Foreigners come only to have parties, sleep with easy polish girls, drink beer, and vomit everywhere.

Krakow has turned into a shyt place because of foreigners

So it is normal that whenever polish people get the chance, they beat off tourists with all the weapons they can.

It is war, and this is normal IMHO

Those British morons are as they are, they are not gonna change. So, we accept that constant and the police are the variable. It is their job to keep the peace and prevent crime.

They must not be slow to act. The vandalism I have heard of gives them every right to step in and put a stop to it.

hehe but why racist???;)

reported

Ohh no you reported me, ohh im scared you fcuking parasite. Take a run and jump scum bag.

Wroclaw Boy, can't you read or are you stupid? I didn't go out with them, i only saw that 2 of them were hurt and then they told me what happened.

I think the opposite is what im deducing actually, can you not see that my man. Your basic observatory skills written or other wise.. well suck.

The obvious point im making is that unless you were there your hardly a reliable source for this information. Its all too often blown out of all proportion and important points totally missed.

Do you realize that having 10k in cash once you really need It wouldn't be a big problem even for a public school teacher ?

Agreed but handing it over would be a different story, i think youd have a hard time getting your hands on 10K yes.

bribing the doctors with 1k to get faster some life saving operations, that's a total nonsense for anyone who have any idea about the public health care system in Poland - in such cases they simply demand much much more.

Not true at all.

I don't donate money to this forum just like +90% of other members.

Fine, but you did say "how to donate" when the gold membership first came available. Thats the whole point of my questioning. You give it the large with 10k bribes and such but cant afford a gold membership.

tourists enjoying the tourist oriented nightlife that Kraków has to offer and advertises around the world.

I guess the beating was a part of the package then.

Just knock them down and pi*ss on them, that's what they deserve.

Yes, this is indeed what most of polish guys think about foreigners.

Very correct and straight to the point.

That's why so much spanish, italian and british blood on the streets of krakow

Police sometimes helps beating up foreigners, because foreigners cause trouble

If that is true that bodes not well for Polands image in Europe.
I'm curious how Poland will present itself during the football EC....that could be an image maker - or breaker!

Well...

Crimes on tourists are not unknown in developing economies.

If the football fans are well behaved, I wouldn't expect a problem.

Yes, more tourists and foreigners to Krakow = more crimes against foreigners.

It is normal.

England is not safe, why should Poland be safe?

Poles had enough of foreigners in here, they like only as long as they get good money from them, but now it is too much, so beatings and crimes against foreigners are becoming extremely common in Poland.

Wake up guys, Poland is far from being a paradise for any foreigner!

Agreed.
Waiddaminute!
Is the UK a developing country?
It would seem so from the ]US official travel advisory to the UK.

Overall crime rates have decreased over the past decade; however, according to Metropolitan Police statistics, serious crime (i.e. assault, robbery, burglary, gun-enabled, and rape) in many London boroughs has increased during the past 12 months. As with any major metropolitan city, U.S. citizens are urged to be cautious and aware of their surroundings.

There will be plenty of drunkeness which will only compound the problems. I'm glad that a stand has been taken against foreigners who disrespect Poland's cultural capital. Fine, have a drink and have a laugh but keep yourself under control and remember your guest status.

Every country is developing, or attempting to. That's what we call evolution. America is very much in that bracket too.

If you have an awareness of the Polish psyche and Japanese psyche, you can see why they are wary of foreigners and what they are doing there. I tried to make this point to SeanBM but he hasn't got it yet :(

The WC 2006 was an incredible image boost for Germany...and we had barely any problems!
It could be the same for Poland...imagine, all football fans around the world now know where Poland is, no more polish jokes! ;)

POlish guys in the last months have become extremely agressive towards any foreigner, especially english , italian and spanish

I have friends who beat up foreigners everyday, break their teeth or their face just for pure enjoyment

Because they know that FOREIGNERS WILL NOT PURSUE AD GO TO A POLISH COURT OF LAW, so there are no consequences into breaking the face and the bones of any foreigner, just for pure enjoyment

What a typical petty-minded British as$hole venting.

As long as innocent tourists enjoying Kraków aren't harmed, let them learn their lesson. You don't go to other parts and start living the life of Larry at the expense of the locals.

Guys, lets tone it down before the thread gets closed. Discussing Kraków in a touristic sense is what the thread was intended for and not solely some moronic behaviour by some fools.

Bzib, those digs don't help at all.

That, I think, is very wrong.
Okay, not all foreigners behave in the way they should, but a lot of them that actually live and work in Krakow for some time do behave and know how to act but still they become the victim of senseless crime.

Imagine every country in Europe would start having the same mentality towards Poles who work in another country? Where would it end? Because we foreigners might not always behave in the best way, but neither do Polish people that "work" abroad.

Since Poland is in the European UNION for some years now, I think it is about time for Polish people to stop the crime and realise that they are part of a bigger community now, called Europe. Seems like Polish people only understand this when its for their own advantage (example : working in other European countries), but when its tourists visiting their country, they expect everyone to speak Polish, act in a normal way and beware of who they look at and in what way...

It will take some time for this country to develop to the standards of a Western country, I realise that, but hating people and beating them up for fun just because they are not Polish will not get you guys any closer to this goal either.

Is the UK a developing country?

Oh dear Derek, it seems you've forgotten the relative levels of tourism between the UK and Poland, the millions of visitors to the UK far outnumbering those to Kraków. But living thousands of miles away from Poland, you may not be au fait with the situation anyway.

Because they know that FOREIGNERS WILL NOT PURSUE AD GO TO A POLISH COURT OF LAW, so there are no consequences into breaking the face and the bones of any foreigner, just for pure enjoyment

Many indeed do go to the police. If robbed or attacked, they can't claim on their travel insurance unless they do.

Look, wink marks make that sure. You can't just say he was joking, jeden, you don't know that at all.

Look, let the police do their job and accept that sh*t happens!

Now, can we start focussing on Kraków!? My wife and I are thinking of coming through sometime soon. She only knows the main landmarks. Any recommendations for nice little finds in Kraków as regards shops or sightseeing?

What des that have to do with crimes on tourists?
They happen in Poland and they happen in the UK.
Or is being beaten up in UK somehow a better experience than being beaten up in Poland?

Kazimierz is a very cosy area, u might find a lot of nice restaurants and places to see there that are not too touristic.
Another nice place to go is the lake of Krispinow, a little bit outside Krakow, lovely in summer time to sit outside and have a good pint.

Polish Police will never do anything AGAINST its own citizens and for the profit of Foreigners!

Because Polish Police is paid from OUR MONEY, of Polish citizens

And everyone just had enough with foreigners in Poland

Foreigners, you should UNDERSTAND once for all, you ARE NEVER WELCOMED here!

What des that have to do with crimes on tourists?

One word, likelihood.

Or is being beaten up in UK somehow a better experience than being beaten up in Poland?

At least the nurses aren't rude to the patients as the original poster mentioned, Derek. And the likelihood of getting attacked in PL is far higher. Unless you know otherwise.

They are also paid from MY money, since I work here and pay taxes, and I am not Polish.

Mirko, please tone down the hate rhetoric. You have made some decent points before but why are you ruining that by posting sth irrational?

I've seen Polish police beat MANY Polish football fans for misbehaving. Aren't they Polish too?

I pay for their upkeep too, a healthy amount of tax at that. I don't use standard public services much here so I see my tax as going on policing. I pay for them to do their jobs by maintaining order.

The level of foreigners here is much lower than Poles in the UK. Don't give the powers the wish that they want, the need for a police state. Don't give in!

I am VERY welcome here by many Poles who respect my credentials and demeanour. The respect is mutual.

Mirko, please start commenting on Kraków and its options. It is a lovely city and people might want to learn about it. Thanks!

Many thanks for the recommendation, dxx. I'll be sure to have a look :)
