hi going to krakow for a weekend to do some sightseeing can anyone tell me what the lifestyle is like places to eat and drink , we are a middle-aged couple. also what is the shopping like and where to shop

It has lot's of user reviews about pretty much anything in Cracow.

Merged: Going to poland (Krakow) for first time - any tips of places to see?...
ówell at 50 yrs old I've finally managed to get a trip with my father to go back to Poland, he was born in a small town/village called jankowce near lesko,
we will be staying in Kraków last name Starenczak ,

Wieliczka is a must (Google it) as is Wawel Castle. Think carefully if you want to take a day trip to Auschwitz or not. It is a memorial rather than a tourist attraction and visiting it is always traumatic.

Excellent point. After visiting Majdanek I was extremely depressed for a day or two (very unusual for me). I do not regret going, as we should all remember what happened in these places, but I'm glad I didn't visit during a holiday.
Wieliczka is a must-see, no doubt about it. I can't say I like the salt for food, but the mine is astounding.

It is a memorial rather than a tourist attraction and visiting it is always traumatic.
These days one of the more depressing things about visiting it is the number of people who think the place is a tourist attraction and behave accordingly. Personally I wouldn't want to visit it while on a short break to Krakow.
A morning coffee and cakes or perhaps lunch at Jama Michalika (a Kraków legend) is a great idea.

The old Schindler factory (as in Schindler's List) is interesting to visit. Lots of exhibits about Kraków in wartime, old photos etc.
Nice to walk in the planty, the long park (like a smaller version of Harrogate Stray) where the old city walls were.
For shopping, the souvenir places in the Square have lots of stuff, but you can usually find nicer and cheaper away from the Square itself. Some nice stalls selling painted wooden boxes just as you get to Wawel Castle.
