First port of entry for Indian national holding D Visa - is it Warsaw or can I enter another Schengen country?

Hi

I am from India and have my work permit, National D visa.

I wonder what is the first port of entry into Schengen area for a D visa holder. Does it has to be Warsaw only or I can enter into another Schengen country like Germany, with connecting flight to Warsaw. Similarly, if I want to leave the Schengen area for personal or office work inbetween, do I need to exit only via Warsaw or from any other city ?

Can be any port of entry, but it's wise to hold tickets through to Poland. For instance, you could land in Frankfurt and then connect onto Warsaw by plane, or land in Berlin and connect to Poland by train.

With the D visa, you've got 3 months visa-free in any other Schengen country with only your travel document and visa/residence permit.

Yup, no problems. Just remember that you need to have a valid visa for re-entry or a residence permit.

Be carefull for the advice from the person whose business to consult foreigners failed miserably and he had to resort to teach kids as career.Best will be to call the proper authorities and get information.

Thanks for the input. I have got a business meeting in Berlin, and I was planning to fly from there to home. Yes, I hold a valid visa, so hoping it won't be much of an issue.

No, no issue at all. You can legally stay for 3 months in any other EU country with the visa.

Just make sure that you comply with the basic requirements - make sure you've got money in your bank account, make sure that you have a reason (take the evidence of your business meeting / flight reservation) and carry your passport with the visa. Other than that, you're good to go!

The above is not strictly true, It depends on the exact visa you have i.e. single, double or multiple entry and then which category i.e. A,B or C

Make sure you have the correct type to do as you wish you really don't want to be deported particularly in these difficult times.

He's got the Polish national visa - D category.

There are rare exceptions in which a short term visa is granted only for one country in the Schengen space and travel to the other Schengen states is prohibited, but it's not normal.
