Eating out - where to have my first Polish meal in Warsaw?

Hi all

Just joined the Forum as I'm moving to Warsaw soon.

So, when I arrive in Warsaw where do people recommend I eat for my first Polish meal?

I would follow the nearest Babcia home for some Polish home cooking :)

Seriously, I would try Podwale 25 in the old town, or the Zapiecek near the corner or Al. Jerozolimskie and Nowy Świat. Given those two choices I would choose the Zapiecek. Address: Al. Jerozolimskie 28.

Merged: A Week in Warsaw, advice on eating out

Hi folks,
I am looking at traveling to Warsaw the week before Christmas to take in the holiday sites.
I have already determined airfare & lodging cost but, was hoping I could get an idea of dining & drinks cost.
I would most likely eat out for all meals & then go to the pub for several drinks in the evening. I typically drink bourbon & Coke but understand this may be a tall order in another country.

Also, suggestions of gifts to bring back home would be welcome.

Not a problem in Poland (except the range will be probably rather limited - whiskies are seen as premium drinks here and priced/stocked accordingly) - it's quite a normal drink in many places.

Any suggestion for how much "walking around money" I should plan on?
Here in the States one could easily spend $1000 USD as the area is fairly expensive.

Have a look at the prices: 1GBP-5zl 1USD- 3zl

a dinner in a bar/ restaurant 25-45 zl
a bottle of beer- 3 zl (shop), 7-10zl (bar)
a travel card (3days) 28 zl
a cinema ticket 25-30 zl
a book 25-40zl
a ticket to the National Museum 15zl (free on Tuesdays)
a pair of trousers 120-140pln (H&M, Orsay etc)

Perfumes are more expensive than in Paris or in London :/ Hope it helps, if you need more info let me know.
