Hi All,

I'm thinking about going to Poznan over Easter weekend, I want to know if it would be worth it or will everything be closed like on Christmas?

Pretty much dead, I'd say - don't waste your time.

Everybody will be at home with their families.

To be honest, nothing really. There will be some bars open, but I doubt anything will be happening that would be remotely worth checking out.

Everything closed. A few (and only a few) restaurants will open.

Is there an English church in Poznan?

No. The Anglicans are in Warsaw and Gdańsk.

I never knew that!

Before WW2 they had a huge presence in Białystok and Warsaw - they're just going through the process of getting the Church property back now.

I am informed that there are English language services held at the cathedral in Poznan at weekends. Catholic service, of course.

Also the church in Sw Wojciech, Poznan.

It's only once a month.

There's also some random Christian church in Piatkowo that has weekly English services, but I know nothing about them apart from that they have some okay-to-talk-to volunteers.

Actually, there is an English speaking church in Poland-- Poznań International Church -- Baptist affiliate.
Here's their website:
international.pl

I know of them b/c I work with a Christian international theatre group called Covenant Players (covenantplayers.org) so we have quite a bit of contacts around the country. And contrary to what all the Poles have written, Easter in Poland is one of my favorite times of the year. True, a lot of things will be closed but during the Easter traditions are very special and the week before (Palm Sunday), there are often festivities in market squares -- at least that was my experience in Kraków. It's a pity I didn't see this before April!

Best wishes,
amy
