Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a nice place where 10-15 people come together and drink, but as we are students It must be not much expensive and a central location would be great (in Warsaw). There are a lot of good lookin bars in Nowy Swiat but honestly I never been in one and unfortunately we all don't know Polish. All suggestions will be appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Well, for strictly economic reasons if not for many others, there is no better place than your own flat for a party. That's one of the things we do to keep expenses down. We have an activity group we use to meet other people (that would be the role-playing group on this forum) so we're hardly left out of the Papparazzi Bar scene - places locals go to meet foreigners with flash.

Or Papparazzi used to be one of those places. I have been away from bar scene since giving up business networking. But with 20 regular people (plus their significant others) and new people coming to one of our three group activity meetings, we're hardly stuck for meeting people. One couple met and are planning their marriage for next year. So 10 - 15 of you should be no problem to double that in a few months and then that number to double again.

A funny location - Huśtawka, ul. Bracka 20a Pałac Brzozowskich (yes, it is in an old palace :-) However, you pay for admission (5 zł, I think)

The one at the front of Palac Brzozowski, entry through the main door, is free admission. Bar Warszawa (the little one in Miodowa of the big front part on Krakowskie Przedmiescie) is even better.

First, thank you for your respond and sorry I wasn't able to check yesterday. Yes I heard Papparazzi but never been there, I will check for sure but as I remember its not that inexpensive?. Just you said, I always prefer home parties but unfortunately we are like 15-20 people so nobody wants to be the host :) And role-playing group sounds fun, I been into one years ago and It was really enjoyable!

Thank you for your respond, what do you mean by funny :) I will check there as well, but my insufficient Polish doesn't let me check properly sometimes so if possible define funny :)

It's not especially cheap and the opposite of cozy.

Try some of the bars in Chinatown (the pavilions behand Nowy Swiat 20). Lot's of little bars, none of them expensive, most cozy, some quite trendy.

Or, if you're students, there's Pub Nora (the burrow) - a Warsaw students' place for years, off Krakowskie Przedmiescie. As for Bar Warszawa, the front place and the one at the back are in effect different bars. the upstairs room at the back feels like an old-fashioned living room, and it is quite cheap.

True enough about role-playing games. Good way to meet and understand people, make them a little less strange. Shame no one wants to host. That would be ideal: controlled prices and controlled surroundings. So long as the 15 - 20 are reasonable and not a55h0les nothing should be broken. Might even have help washing dishes.

One of the best bars I have been in Warsaw is a bar called Bubbles in the Old Town. Prices there are reasonable and adequate to the quality - because everything there is delicious and high quality. They specialize in champagnes and sparkling wines, but they also serve delicious food. The atmosphere is very friendly and cozy. It is really worth checking out!

Is it an inexpensive bar? Y'know, champagne bars, especially in a touristy bit of town, are never very cheap

Huśtawka, ul. Bracka 20a Pałac Brzozowskich

The one at the front of Palac Brzozowski, entry through the main door,

Both now closed.

Piękna Mery, on ul. Piękna (about 150 metres from the corner of pl. Konstytucji) is certainly cozy, not expensive and really nice. The owner lived for many many years in New York so he speaks perfect English and the atmosphere there is really good. It's a tiny bar, down a few steps from the street.
