Which countries (of the world) is a Polish drivers licence valid?

I know that you can use an E.U. drivers licence in all E.U. countries, is there a time limit on how long you can use a Irish one in Poland, for example?

And which countries outside the E.U. can you use a Polish drivers licence?

Polish D.L. is fine in USA along with your passport and current visa.

International D.L. not excepted in all states in USA

A Chicago cop told me its like having a license from Walmart......lol
Thats a signal that they might be and usually are Illegal.

Thanks for the replies,

with an international driving licenses

International D.L. not excepted in all states in USA

Maybe a more clear question is,
Which countries, outside the E.U., do I need to have an international driving licence instead of just an E.U. one?
And Which states in the U.S. do I need an international driving licence for?

A friend told me that you can use your E.U. driving licence in all the countries which signed the Geneva convention but that just doesn't sound right to me, is it?

Does anyone have a link to a website I can check?

Not any more, no.

Sweet.

You'll find a list of countries at the bottom of the AA Ireland application form for an IDP which gives you all the information you need (I'm assuming that you have an Irish licence; if not, just let me know which country your licence is from)

is there a time limit on how long you can use a Irish one in Poland, for example?

I posted a link from the EU website about that but a moderator thought that it was off-topic.

Mostly all of them. Some countries have signed agreements (such as Serbia and Croatia) to treat EU licences as equal to their own, but not all : it's worth getting one, just in case. Anecdotal evidence suggests that you can get away with just the EU licence in most of Europe (including Ukraine), but I wouldn't risk it, personally.

Worth pointing out that the IDP is a translation of the licence, not a replacement.

Yep, it is indeed only valid when accompanied by a national licence.

EU (including Polish of course) driving licences can be used in other EU member states until they expire. In my case never :)

As for the USA, I wouldn't waste money to get an international DL. Your Polish DL and a passport with visa will do.
Although, my international driver licence helped me not to get a ticket back in the days. The police officer was very confused about how to deal with that little book and he let me go with a warrning.

^ That's one of the main reasons I keep my old style photo-free UK licence.

Is it still valid?

I think that the international DL expiers after 2 years?

Not an IDP issued in the UK: a full UK licence issued in the 1980s. At that time the UK-issued IDP had a photo but the full UK licence did not.

I got an international driver's license, cost 30 something zloty, took a couple of days and is valid for 3 years.

It gives a list of countries where it is valid, which includes Britain and Ireland.
I'm guessing that if you have an (e.g.) U.S. driver's licence you can get this international one and drive in Ireland etc...

It's an A5 paper sized paper book with your photo glued in and stamped over.
Only in Polish, which is a little strange as you can't use it in Poland but hey, when in Rome, show them Polish...

Anyway, I probably didn't need it but the countries I need are listed and some of the countries are very very bureaucratic, so better safe than in jail.
