Car hire Przemysl

Scouring the Internet, none of the 'big' car hire companies advertise an operation in Przemyśl. It surprises me as the town itself looks to be fairly large. Has anyone on the forums hired a car in Przemyśl, or do you know if there are car hire outlets down there?

On an unrelated note, I'm excited having now booked flights and hotel for a first time visit to Poland soon! Just thought I'd say :-)

cheers

Been in przemysl twice so far, it has quite a large and frequent bus service if your only looking to travel whiten Przemysl.

On a side note: In Rzeszów airport (90kM away) I seen a hertz desk and another polish car hire company although I forget the name,

Thanks for the reply, David.

I want to get to a place called Tarnawce, which looks to be a tiny place about 5km or so away, so my guess is it won't be served well by bus. Plus, we want to tour around this town a little (it's the birthplace of my wife's father, so we'd like to find churches and cemeteries and whatnot). So either car hire or perhaps we could hire a taxi to drive us for three or four hours...

Now I think of that, are there taxis in Przemyśl?

Hey Steve ... I couldn't come up with a car hire company in Przemysl either, but when I need a car in PL I always call Express (phone number on en.express.pl, top of the page). They have door-to-door service (for a fee, obviously), unlimited mileage and pretty cheap as well. Cars are usually good, and they give good service.

Hope it helps.

Yeah they're quite common their is a taxi rank at the train station (Near the a few buero de change's [kantory])

Just asked my girlfriend (Who is from Przemyśl) they're buses to Tarnawce. You might want to look up bus routes to Krasiczyn castle as its on the way.

The town has a very good bus service with three bus company's that I remember (DamiTrans, PKS & MZK) PKS Definitely serves this route.

Buses cost 2.50Z£ on the bus or in shop tickets are 2Z£

As for cemetery, if you are referring to the very large one on the hill it is also served by bus and there is a beautiful bar across from it, there's a outdoor area at the front beside the road (Across from a bus stop) with somewhat of a metal frame covered from view by loads of grape vines growing down, it looks magnificent and when I was their last week the grapes where just starting to get big still green.

Thanks, Stu, I'll look over the website...

Thanks for the info, David. We're travelling down from Kraków for an overnight stay in Przemyśl (if I can convince myself from the confilicting messages I receive that it's actually safe to take my family on Polish trains!) so it will be a flying visit.

The cemetery I hope to find is whichever is the closest to Tarnawce, which I guess will be where my wife's ancestors will be buried. It looks a beautiful part of the world, and I can't wait to go...

They're as safe as houses on the Krakow-Przemysl route.

That's reassuring, thanks. I plan to travel during the day, so I'm sure that will help too.

I saw somewhere the TLK means "cheap" trains, yet everyone here seems to think they're better than the IR service.

They are - because they're the "cheap" trains run by the premium operator - PKP Intercity. IR trains are so called "inter-regio" - which means long distance by the regional operator, Przewozy Regionalne. TLK trains are built to go long distance - IR - maybe not so, as it depends what they have to hand - and it's the same stock used for regional services, so can be very uncomfortable on long distances.

If you ask me - the safest, best bet is to try and get a reservation for 1st class TLK (no reservations in 2nd class) in a non-smoking compartment. Or travel by EIC train.

That's what I'll try to do.

It must be one of the few occasions when cheaper doesn't mean worse!

Thanks again for the assistance everyone...

If anyone is looking for car hire in Przemyśl the best option would be to hire a car from Rzeszów. There is a few cheap car rental companies I can recommend. You can find more here: RentCar.pl. Good and really cheap car rental companies in Rzeszów.
