Best way to get from Metro Mlociny to Chopin Airport?

Im getting the Polskibus from Bydgoszcz to Warsaw but it's dropping me off quite far from the airport...Could anybody help me find the best way to get from Metro Młociny to Chopin Airport?

It's a very easy journey. You have several choices - this one is simplest.

1. Get the Metro from Mlociny (PolskiBus drops its passengers off at the Metro Station). Get off at Centrum. Leave the platform from the main exit - the one near the front not the back of the train.

2. Metro Centrum is by a big crossroads with a traffic roundabout. The bus stop you want for the airport doesn't involve crossing any roads - it is the nearest one to the metro and no more than one minute's walk away.. When you're at the bus stop, you'll be standing opposite the Polonia Palace Hotel, which will be on the other side of the road facing you. The Palace of Culture will be behind you.

3. The bus you want is the 175 (they are every few minutes, allow half an hour to get to the airport (double it during the rush hour, just to be safe) - or just grab a taxi for about 35 or 40 zl. There are plenty nearby.

If you get the bus, buy 2 tickets at Metro Mlociny and don't forget to save one to cancel on the bus.

You can also get the 188 from Metro Politechnika or another bus from Metro Imielin, however the stops are harder to find if you're a visitor and pressed for time. There are also trains from Central Station (5 mins walk from Metro Centrum) however they are not much quicker than the bus and not as regular.

Jon, from this year, only one ticket is necessary. It is valid for 70 minutes, with unlimited stops. 70 minutes should be enough from Metro Młociny to the airport.

Unfortunately this link is in Polish, but it states clearly that you can buy a 70-minute ticket (City) or a 90-minute ticket (city and suburban). Should be enough to get from Młociny to the airport.

P.S. Crow, maybe you could enlighten us about the sarmatian influence on Warsaw ticket tariffs? After all you seem to be very informed about everything Polish?

I'm always paranoid about those timed tickets, in case there's a delay and the Kanary get on. 70 minutes should do it though, outside the rush hour.

Yes - there are self-service machines (with an option in English - just press the flag) at both entrances to the Metro. There are two types of machines. They do the same thing, but in a slightly different way. Both have English menus. If you find one type of machine is a nuisance, just look for the other type. Or just ask at the news kiosk inside the Metro Station - the word for ticket is bilet.

It would be best for the OP to buy a 90-minute ticket, to be on the safe side. The price difference is not so big, and no problems with greedy ticket inspectors.

175 goes only 4 times per hour, so he could otherwise already loose 15 minutes just by waiting.

And be careful for your bags - 175 is supposedly popular with pickpockets - at least that's what I heard.

An alternative would be to take an SKM train to the airport (line S2) from Warszawa Śródmieście Station which is readily accessible just on his way from Metro Centrum to the bus stop 175. The trains are at 24 and 54 minutes past every hour and it takes 22 minutes to get to Warszawa Lotnisko Chopina station. You will descend onto the middle platform of the station from which you should take the direction of its right side.

It's very popular with them, I've seen them in action a number of times, and wallets stripped of their cash in the rubbish bin outside the Marriot opposite the central station.


I entirely agree. The 175 is also very popular with ticket inspectors.


If I had more than one bag, I'd most certainly get a taxi from Glob taxi corporation: it's only 29zl from anywhere in Warsaw to the airport. glob cab taxi.

Thank you everybody for your advice, since I have a large suitcase and a backpack, I am a bit worried now about pickpockets. How much would the bus/train options cost? I wouldn't be too bothered paying for a taxi, I just didn't want to get ripped off (thanks Harry for the link to the taxi company)

Honestly speaking I also would opt for the train. Much more comfortable as the 175 bus. No hassle at all.

It's not the easiest of connections between the metro station and the train station, there's absolutely nothing in the way of signs at all.


In that case just book a taxi with Glob; if you take a normal taxi, the bill from Metro Mlociny to Chopin Airport could easily be 80zl to 100zl (Metro Mlociny is in the north of the city and Chopin Airport is in the south). From memory they almost always have at least one operator there who speaks some English.

Not as accessible as a 20 second walk from the metro entrance. Not to mention dealing with another mode of transport as well as stairs with luggage.


Or just grab any cab from the main road outside Metro Centrum - that's what I tend to do and they don't rip people off (providing you get a cab with a phone number displayed on the roof - most have them, but avoid the others). It isn't expensive.

From there you'd expect to pay (an honest cabbie) about 35zl to 45zl, depending on the traffic, meaning that it's cheaper to just get a Glob taxi from Metro Mlociny.

The entrance to Warszawa Śródmieście station is just in between the metro exit and the 175 bus stop.


The SKM train is just as another mode of transport as is bus 175. Stairs to the platform are quite easy to walk down (well, at least if you're not an 80-year old).

I did an almost identical overstappen in Amsterdam (almost the same distance and same amount of stairs) last summer because of the modernisation work on the Dutch railway while travelling to Schiphol airport from a distant village of Frisland by train, and it wasn't any problem whatsoever (except for no information at all in Amsterdam Sloterdijk station).

But a taxi would certainly be the most comfortable "mode of transport".

I use Volfra (cheap as chips) who go round the ring road. Nevertheless, in the rush hour it might be better to go into Centrum by tube. There's also a taxi rank at Mlociny, It would be about 80-90 from there.

It is just a matter of getting out of the metro, go the direction of Warszawa Centralna, and directly descend to Warszawa Śródmieście.

Only if you decide to walk to the next bus stop and not use the one right outside Rondo Centrum. I have no idea why somebody would do something that stupid.

And anyway, half of the trains to the airport don't even stop at Warszawa Srodmiescie station, they go from Centralna. Have you been to Warsaw recently?


It very much depends on where you're coming from in Warsaw and on the time of day. Personally I greatly prefer the train: the 175 can get very crowded, absolutely packed in fact and a lot of the people who take it are less than well scrubbed.
