Studies in Opole University; lack of money, cheap renting, any job available?

Hi!
Bulgarian here asking for help, I plan to apply for studies at Opole University and in October plan to come there.
Now, as a poor South Slavic guy I don't have money for three year carelessly student life as if I would be if I would be Western European.

My question is - can foreign EU student work as local students? How much hours in a week?
What would be the cheapest option for renting? As I don't know will I get a bed in shared room in dormitory, what would be average cost of room in shared apartment?

And advice would be useful

Thank you

I think you should show more initiative in order to compensate for low finances. :):) Why don`t you check at the source? I mean the sites of universities in Opole:

hello.uni.opole.pl/accommodation/
dwm.po.opole.pl/index.php/en/our-university/university-facilities/university-dorms
dwm.po.opole.pl/index.php/en/erasmus/incoming-students/accommodation

and there are many more sites, just google Opole university dormitory etc.

The cost of uni dorm is:

380 Monthly fee for accommodation in a triple room per person
390 Monthly fee for accomodation in a double per person

The cost of a bedsit is more or less the same, but mostly a bit higher, around 400-600 PLN.

Thank you for the answer but I have seen that.
I was thinking on the room in apartment in city as I am not sure that I will get a room/bed in dormitory. It is better to be prepared to find accommodation on my own but I don't know any of polish web-pages on which the rooms or apartments are advertised. And I am not looking for the most expensive as those results usually come first when googling.

as if I would be Western European.

you haven't even applied yet - yet you are already whining about western Europeans having more than you do. Apply in your own country, as Pawian said, you don't have the initiative for this.

If you really think you are up for it, apply first and get your place, before worrying about accommodation and jobs and rich western Euro students.

Seems to me, that the logical connection between the first part of the sentence and the last is tenuous, at best. Do you suppose that he will arrive and learn that his Western European cousins, on average, actually have less funds available for accommodation and food than him? He's stated something more or less objective, if not very elegantly.

Give the kid a break.

no idea, tbh.
All I am saying is that before he starts moaning about how poor he is in comparison to other students - maybe get a place first?

or study in Bulgaria.

@rozumiemnic

I know that you're coming from a good place, so forgive me if I'm being too nitpicky.

Both you and Pawian immediately went after this kid's lack of initiative. Is trying to get into a foreign college, even if a little worried about how you would afford life while a student - not a sign of initiative?

IMHO, his worrying about what he will do, after he is admitted, actually shows some maturity on his part. The only unfortunate thing, but completely human, is that he seems a little bitter at the fact that he needs to factor in these considerations while local young people can be more carefree in this regard.

The hard knocks of life, and bitter truths, like "poor people have to work twice as hard", "compensate for your present lack of funds with more initiative", "drill down on your studies while others party, because you can't afford to" - I'm sure he knows himself.

but I don't know any of polish web-pages on which the rooms or apartments are

I offered you one link about bedsits in Opole in my post above. I just googled pokoje student Opole and there are a dozen sites. I understand you don`t know Polish because if you did, you would have done it yourself.

google.com/search?q=pokoje+opole+student&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b

Thank you for the answer but I have seen that.

I see. You are simply looking for sb with first hand experience in renting a room or finding work in Opole. As you can see, there aren`t too many people like that here.

can foreign EU student work as local students? How much hours in a week?

There are no rules concerning your work as a student if you are EU country citizen. You can work as many hours as you want.

Both you and Pawian immediately went after this kid's lack of initiative

I mentioned initiative because this would -be student`s first post sounded as if his first step was to look for needed info on this forum instead of checking out at the source on Opole sites.

Hey, Levski, I displayed initiative and found that Opole student forum.
opole.dlastudenta.pl/

its subpage about accommodation.
opole.dlastudenta.pl/stancje/

work
opole.dlastudenta.pl/praca/
