Polish schools and Polish educational system level in your eyes

I would like you to answer how you know that A levels are easier than Polish matura. That was the question I put to you which you seem most unwilling to answer.

I wonder why that is?

Poles are educated people.

I have never said they weren't. In fact I'm not saying that the English education system is better than the Polish one because I haven't personally studied under it.

You however, will not accept any form of criticism whatsoever.

I gave you the source of my former statement already and I repeat - British education system lags behind Polish , in spite of the fact its funded many times more than Polish .

Use just simple logics . In the last women European mathematical contest Polish girls ranked 1-st , British ranked 12-th out of 19 countries , this score tells me that your educational level is lower than Polish . The girls were given the same subjects , so everyone has had the same conditions . Do you need another proof?

That supposed source didn't actually take British A levels, did she? In fact, nobody you know has ever taken A levels. But you still come here and mouth off about A levels. That's nearly as smart as somebody claiming to be a lawyer and demonstrating that they have no knowledge at all about Polish law.

Very simply monia, you are lying, yet again. There is very simply no way that anybody is admitted to Cambridge after just a conversation.

That would be unheard of. there are two options for entry. The entrance exam which would shock most Polish people with doctorates or an exhaustive interview followed by a grade offer which would be for maximum grades only.

i dont think that would have been 'news' to be discovered by someone in the family were it true.
I expect you do not mean Cambridge University but perhaps UEA which has a campus in Cambridge.

Or even some private place with an office there.

You gave me the entire academic history of your family, NONE of whom have ever taken A levels, so you STILL haven't answered my question! As an educated woman are you being deliberately obtuse, or just trying to evade answering my question?

I'm really trying to be patient here, but it's more than apparent you have little knowledge of the British education system, and will not accept any flaws in the Polish one whatsoever.

I have bad news Landora - In the ranking of higher education institutions in 2013 UMCS faculty of "Law and Administration", conducted by Rzeczpospolita , the department received 6-th place out of 25 classified universities in Poland.

In the ranking of pass rates for an attorney, notary and legal training conducted by the Ministry of Justice, Department of Law and Administration of the UMCS received 5 place classified out of 16 units . In 2010 it was ranked at 2 -nd place .

So , landora , your mindless retort is pointless, as faculty of law of UMCS ranks high .

So it came sixth in a very weak field. Not great.

Thanks for that, although I do wonder what the professors at UMCS would have to say about somebody who claims to have studied there but displays no knowledge at all of Polish law.

Anyway, could you perhaps tell us who you know who has taken a British A level? Could you tell us what you know about British A levels? Pam has asked repeatedly but you just keep ignoring her questions.

Not really, because that number is talking about how many passed the bar exam - which has little to do with the quality of the university.

Lying yet again Monia, what a surprise.

Yeah , students of law at UMCS were grazing sheep during the course of studies and once of a sudden they passed for an attorney legal training scoring high position. You can`t even comprehend what is written in your native language - the ranking of UMCS course of law said about passing an entry exam for an attorney`s training , not the Bar exam . Do you claim that such score has nothing to do with the quality of former training ? Congrats to your logics. The level of your ignorance is embarrassing.

polish educational system is lower than it used to be imho

I have seen nothing but less funding and higher numbers of students in the last 5 years and with 45minute lessons and 40 students its no wonder everyone takes private tutoring

I'm from Poland, currently studying electrical engineering in London, UCL.

I've passed polish new matura lat year and comparing to students from other countries - we have very good level of physics and math.

For example - in France, there is no electronics at all (even Ohm's law!) in high school.
What's more, electromagnetics during 1st year was just revision for me (just a little more than I had in Poland) while for others it was one of the most difficult subjects.

About math - we have good level regarding subjects we cover but we do not have derivatives or integrals, what is standard in other countries.

Overall - teacher find polish students as one of the best - maybe because costs of living in London are very high and we just have to pass and that's why we are studying more.

About English (the only 3 subjects I passed at extended level) - I know that i don't speak perfect english, but I had no problem with studying abroad.

I had 93% from advanced physics and english, 86% from advanced math.

Merged: I'm curious about the university level in Poland

Well I'm from South Korea and I recently got interested studying in Poland. (Well mostly because of my Polish girlfriend..)
I've done some research about it and I found out that University of Economics in Katowice is one of the top universities in Poland.

Anyways.. so I asked my parents if I can study in there. They said no. They said Poland is a "shi****" country and you can't even get a job with a Polish degree. I was kinda sad when they said that

so.. I'm asking you guys. Do you think it's worth for a Korean guy to study in Poland? (If I'm planning to live in Europe)

The University of Economics of Katowice have an agreement with my University in Brazil (USP, the best university of Latin America) and they have world class reputation.

Jagiellonian and Warsaw University also have good reputation.

I Think your parents were extremelly exagerated to say Poland is a S*** Country.

If you want a job in Europe, DON'T study economics, business, administration, marketing and finance, The market is super-saturated with graduates in those fields. Or if you must study in these fields, either a) study at one of the very best schools in the WORLD (like Harvard or LSE, no Polish schools qualify), OR study a math-intensive field like actuary science, econometrics, financial mathematics or financial engineering at a very, very good school (again, not many, if any, Polish schools qualify) AND be a top student AND be a very, very aggressive go-getter and self-promoter (forget about it if you are a mediocre student or the stereotypically shy and polite Asian nerd type).

Actuary sciences is a very highly paid field and you will never have to worry about finding a job anywhere. The studies are VERY difficult, though, because of all the very difficult exams you have to take.

You best option, though, is to study petroleum engineering, geological engineering or biomedical engineering, For that, you probably have schools in Korea that are better or at least as good as those in Poland. Or pick a very good university in Western Europe or the United States.

You really haven't given any good reason for wanting to study in Poland, specifically, so I have to agree with your parents here. Do you even know anything about the country?
