I am moving to Gdansk in the end of Oct and I was looking for general information about Gdansk University from a native speaker that has attended there. I am thinking about taking some courses there and I would like to know more about the instruction in English.
any general coments about tricity, teaching and the univerisity would be great,

In actual fact there are lots and lots of universities in Gdansk as well as many medical schools. I did visit once or twice the University of Gdansk Language department that is or at least used to be at Oliwa in those days. It seemed a nice place and some of the students dropped out of their studies. Apparently, as it was the university of Gdansk the certificate was not recognized overseas and had therefore limited value. Mind you, I am talking about the days during communism in the mid 1980's. In those days there were considerable numbers of Poles learning Russian in order to become language teachers in Polish state schools. I do not know of classes held in the English Language but I would have thought that you would be better off searching for English spoken classes in England. Why Poland?

How about Polish? The Polish language school in Sopot is supposedly one of the best in Poland.
Alternatively, the Gdańsk fencing school (AWFiS Gdańsk) is one of the best in Europe. Almost all of their trainers have fenced across Europe so I guess they'll speak a bit of English. The women from the Gdańsk school are among the best in the world, people travel from all over Europe to train with them.

Heyo I have question can't find answer for it , I'm studying in High institute of social works at Alexandria university and i want to complete my studying in the finale year here in Gdańsk ,Is that possible? You could maybe get a Polish speaking friend to contact the Polish Red Cross pck.org.pl and see if they can advise. I would imagine if anyone would know, they would.

Hey there. I am planning to apply for the University of Gdansk, faculty of International Business.I have one small problem though - I will be working since 3 PM on weekends and it is very important for me to know at what time do the courses at the university take place.
Does anyone know something about this? Do international students mostly study in the mornings or in the evenings? Any information would help, since I wasn't able to find anything about this on their website.
And in addition, could anybody help me with information about Gdansk acommodation? How much money would I need for renting an apartment with one room?
if you state that you are going to work on weekends then there should be no obstacles cause there are no lectures and no excersises on weekends (well this is valid for home students - but I guess its the same for foreign students)
one room appartment in Gdańsk will cost you at least 600zl a month (usually it gets more expensive) depending on many factors - well this may change in a couple of months due to the closure of some big businesses in the Tricity
Ooops, sorry. Don't know what I was thinking about when I wrote the message. What I meant is that I will work since 3 PM on weekdays, from Monday to Friday.
And about the apartment, I hope that I will find something which would cost about 1000 zl. Do you think the prices might become higher soon?
all right - anything around 1000 zl is fairly easily available (but looking further can get you a bit cheaper accomodation)
this can turn quite problematic for you - working in the afternoons - most universities don't bother to arrange things in this way so that students can work in the afternoons
but you may be lucky to find your schedules to fit your needs
so you have to wait and see 'til you're already there - schedules aren't usually prepared much in advance in Polish higher education institutions - but inform yourself at the source - I can be for a surprise here

I checked the Polish version of their website and there isn't any schedule either but most probably there will be classes until 4PM (or even later) at least 1-2 days a week. This is normal in Poland.

Math isn't my strong point. I'm 28 but will have my first degree in Business from an American University in October. I'm enrolling in their Bachelor program for the first year and will then switch to their masters of international business the following year. I'm going this route because the enrollment period is May-July and I won't have my degree by then. I'd eager to start at the school and don't mind taking a year of undergraduate studies. I'm wondering if I can even transfer credits in to avoid a majority of class this first year. I'm not familiar with the process.
As far as I know when university doesn't have special agreement with other university, then it's hard to transfer credit. Especially when it's uni from out of EU. Some professors may be so kind to let you not attend classes and copy mark from your previous course.
Sopot is a popular resort town, so the prices will be rather high, particularly during the summer, when tourist flock there for holidays. If this is beyond your budget, you can stay in nearby, but less touristy, Gdynia and take the train to Sopot. This won't be a major inconvenience because the school you are talking about is in or next door to the train station in Sopot. The connection is very good. If you want to stay in Sopot, the farther you are from the shore and Monte Casino Street, the less expensive things will be. But there is no cheap place in Sopot.
