A friend of mine at a med school in Poland is suffering from discrimination and humiliation by a Polish University Professor where the professor has not only said harsh and demeaning words but also failed him more out of spite and discrimination than any other reason. Does anyone know about any organisation governmental or non governmental that can help?
It is is really annoying that med schools demand thousands of euros fees and still have professors with vindictive and petty mind set. It is not unusual that sometimes med students out of desperation go into depression and ruin their career and studies. If anyone can provide useful information regarding how to tackle this situation please let me know. I mean Poland is in European Union so this should not be happening here or at least there should be a way to find an adequate solution.
If he doesn't want to report it to the police or university authorities, he can seek some advice from non-governmental organisations listed on this website: reportracism.pl/en/report-racism
Discrimination on what basis? Nationality? Gender? Religion? or the color of the skin? Racism applies only to the last one.and in certain situation it applies to Ethnic origin, like Hitler despised Jews.
Examples of Racism the racism that was the basis of apartheid Hitler's declaration of his belief in a "master race" was an indication of the inherent racism of the Nazi movement. The recording career of the Henderson band was brief ... due partly to the racism of booking agencies that didn't take on black acts until the mid-'30s, when Henderson's career was on the downswing
That's actually a very good idea. There isn't that much that you can do with secret recordings in Poland, however if there is a genuine problem and he really is being treated differently for whatever reason a recording may back up his story. Just not in court.
there was a case when a student secretly recorded his meeting with a professor, enough to say he was expelled for illegal recording, so be careful with this. And even if you did record someone without their consent don't brag about it.
I'm talking about University of Economics in Poznan, but the result might be similiar
Oh, so you can't even give any details of what the Polish prof has allegedly said about those "non-white students"? So maybe he didn't say anything you're accusing him of? Maybe he doesn't even exist and you just made up the whole sob-story? I like it when an anti-Polish racist plays victim of the Polish people and uses pseudo-antiracist rhetoric to slander us. Racists nowadays have become adroit with using antiracist rhetoric. :) Better write about discrimination against the Poles, including brutal slurs and beatings, by "non-white" types in America and UK.
@ Baloney It is a delicate situation and needs to be dealt in the same manner. The first attempt is always to try diffusing the problem in amicable way but knowing the next steps to take in case that doesn't work .
This is not maths, two wrongs don't make a right. What happens to Poles in US is not right either but that doesn't help this situation. If you want to discuss Poles in US or UK please start another thread. I wanted to know the the names of agencies to contact and I got some answers. My friend has already talked to one of these agencies and given the details. I will let the professionals handle it :) And remember I am not talking about a general rule, these kind of people (like the professor) are exceptions in every society and need to be dealt with accordingly. In a conflict situation a mediator is required and that is what I was trying to find and have found.
A friend of mine at a med school in Poland is suffering from discrimination and humiliation by a Polish University Professor.
Is it possible that he was failed for simply not being good enough? Minorities playing the race card is nothing new in some countries, and Polish professors tend to speak their mind when confronted with someone who has failed to do even the bare minimum.
The point is that we don't actually know what was said or really any details about this. If he was discriminated against, yes it's wrong. Very wrong. However what we have in this thread is a very vague allegation without much information.
The OP says:
Does anyone know about any organisation governmental or non governmental that can help?
. There are links in the thread to people who can advise and they are doubtless better placed than people from the internet.
What baloney, ya "medical student." You say the matter is so "delicate" you can't give details of it and yet you advertise it here? I think you are lying about the whole alleged case. For the sole reason to propagate the fake message: "Polish profs discriminate against Third World students." I think I sense your background.... :) Are you one of those who help stir up riots of Third World individuals in European cities? Of course, you're not interested in the REAL racism, that is the open racism against the Polish people in USA, Canada and Britain. Oh, and you want to limit freedom of speech in my country? Another proof of your anti-Polish racism?
American medical students in Poland tend to pull the race card as soon as something doesn't go their way. Nothing unusual here, move on, nothing to see.
To Goody's Dad: is that right? It follows they are shameless hypocrites coming from a country virulently racist toward the Polish people and accusing the Polish people of racism. Yes, racists in America and Britain nowadays have become skillful with the use pseudo-antiracist lingo. Their "human rights" organizations also full of racists, right? Orwellian indeed.
I mean Poland is in European Union so this should not be happening here or at least there should be a way to find an adequate solution.
In all countries in the EU there are minorities who believe they get a bad deal. If you talk to any member of a minority group in Poland they will inform you things are greatly improving.
As per your request there's an organisation based in Warsaw called nigdywiecej.org they specialize in racism your friend should contact them and discuss his situation. The smart money would be on your friend transferring to another Polish university, offering the same course. You will not beat or change the system in Poland crying discrimination.
