Hello,

I am moving to Lodz,Poland and my office would be in Srodmiescie. I was wondering if it's a good place to live in too in a rental accommodation?

If you are aware of some good rental apartments in the range of 1500 to 1800zl (incl. Admin cost), plz. let me know.

Thanks

Śródmieście just means downtown. Because £ódź is the sort of place that it is, downtown covers a large area. Some of it is good to live in, some of it isn't. Most looks run-down but atmospheric. There are decent places in śródmieście however most of the buildings aren't modernised and those that are will probably be more expensive. Still, I'd personally prefer Śródmieście to the suburbs.

Hi Jon,

Thanks for leaving your comments. Which are the other parts of city you will recommend me to find accommodation and also have good public transport, as I'm not planning to have my own car immediately.

Thanks

I wouldn't really recommend anywhere outside the centre (which is large) in £ódź. Especially if you don't have kids etc.

No I don't have kids as of now.

Can you give me name of the preferred locations where I should search apartments? Thanks

It's hit and miss. Downtown is so chaotic that good parts and bad parts are adjacent. Better to have a look when you get there.

Dear Sammyro, I think you can find something very good in 'srodmiescie' for 1500-1800.

Avoid Kilinskiego/Rewolucji/Pomorska area (it's a dump) and move yourself south towards Wigury/Brzezna/Nawrot/Zamenhofa - this general area. I know of someone on Wigury, and he has never had a problem with anyone in the vicinity, plus it is only a few minutes to Galeria Lodzka and the trams on Zwirki.

If I were to live outside the centre, I would choose the Julianowska/Zgierska area. Close to a large landscape park (Lagiewniki), the tram lines to the centre (takes 10 minutes) and also close to Manufaktura.

Get on to google maps. You will get an idea of what I am recommending.

With the money you will have at your disposal for renting, I would not worry one jot.

yup, that's true and i have to add Gdańska, i think Narutowicza and streets nearby this area are quite safe
