Can a foreigner buy a property in Poland which is listed for sale under TBS clause?

I was browsing some real estate sites and noticed that there are listings with the word 'TBS' which sell as a comparatively cheaper price.

What is this TBS and can a foreigner (non-EU citizen) staying in Poland purchase such an apartment ?

Please shed some light on it. Thanks in advance. :)

They're not for sale, they're for lifelong occupancy (last I knew) without ownership. they were first intended as a way of trying to bring some relief to mid-income earners who were squeezed out of the very tight housing market. There also used to be restrictions on sub-letting .....And.... they tend to be loud (not always but a large minority of people I've known who live in them complain about noise levels from partying neighbors and the like.

Mostly likely not worth it.

From what I know, they tend to also suffer from shockingly high administration payments, as they're often constructed by big housing associations who have a ridiculous amount of overheads.

It might be snobbery, but what I've heard about them is that they very quickly go downhill.

As with any property - make sure that if you ever want to sell it - you a) will be able to and b) will at least get your own money back for the property.

Make absolutely sure what the 'administration costs' are - they will cripple you.

Do you know how they operate now? They seem a very 1990s solution to a problem that isn't necessarily that big a deal now.

Back in the 1990s a friend looked into them but they required a big deposit (that you lost if you ever moved out) and the czynsz was insane...

Just out of interest - an article about TBS. If I was you, I wouldn't touch it - ever.
