The electricty company want to install another pylon on my farmland to support a 15Kw line

The electricity company sent a document asking for our consent to build another pylon in our field (there is one there already).

Does anyone know what the legal situation is? Do they have a right to build it? how much compensation for the loss of land could we ask for?

I don't really know why they need it - seems adequate as it is.

You can turn their request down.

You can agree for free.

You can agree but demand compensation.

They will offer a single compensation. You can take it.

Or you can demand annual payments.

And negotiate.

That`s what I gathered from google, more or less.

and any time I turn up to a rental here or in the UK that's near one, I prefer to walk on. Near Klecina, some of the flats are nearer to pylons than I'd personally accept.

That is nothing in comparison to such curious situations:

In some countries you can't build near them. In the UK you can, but people don't like their houses to be too close. In Poland, I've seen people living right under the cables.

I think it should be prohibited to build within 500m of them.

In Watford, there's a low rise block near Water Lane, if my memory serves me correctly the cables are directly over the flats.

I assume you are not on mains electrcity and don't live near 5m of a 240v wire?

I'll discuss a rental agreement with the company.

Another thing you can do is take a look at the map, where they intend on erecting the pylon and you can ask them to put it in the corner or out of the way.

If it was up to me the cables would be either 500m away or buried. Problem is the cost.

Burying the pylons where they are too close to homes or schools etc, is probably a lot cheaper than rehousing people. So I don't think the issue of homelessness arises which on a brief read of a post above seems to be someone's concern.

50m is the possible risk zone and you are untouched indoors. However, a main wire inside a house will just as dangerous as a higher voltage further away.

Besides the risk from it is too small to bother about.

We agreed to them moving the existing pylon from the center of the field and replacing it with two on each edge of the field, thereby removing the obstruction.

I agree with you Jon, whenever I am in Wilanow ( stare) I look up at those cables which pass by TVN and realize they are not informed of the health hazards.

If you're in wilanow, you might know that field between Sadyba and Dolny Mokotow between Sobieskiego and Centrum Panorama. Beethoven'a at the top and the middle bit of Idzikowskiego at the bottom. I used to walk my doggie down there and whenever we went past the pylon on Idzikowskiego I used to feel a jolt. It simply can't be healthy living right by them.

The same goes for top floor flats right under a cellphone antenna.

In the UK high voltage means 275KV or 400KV. One one on our farm is 15KV, not really much to be concerned about.

But it should mean the regular blackouts stop happening to our village when they rebuild the line.

I know the area you mentioned, the green area on both sides of Sobieskiego was known as the lungs of Warsaw.
