Barney 16 | 1649 22 Sep 2012 / #61One could buy a good PC/laptop and a £100 smartphone that does more and still have change. This is my point.Get stuff that does the job and dont spend a bean more.I could buy a modern TV for eg but I dont need to or want to. The kids have better phones and laptops than me but I have better carrots and spuds than them:)
OP pawian 220 | 24942 22 Sep 2012 / #62In general I don't think this is the case as most people look for value, and only people with more money than sense buy the latest gadgets when they first hit the shelf.Right.Yesterday, we discovered a butterfly in the classroom.
OP pawian 220 | 24942 24 Sep 2012 / #63On Sundays I do voluntary work for a widow with autistic adult son. My duties: walks on sunny days, petty repairs in home, bathing and shaving, feeding supper. Little loans from time to time as the woman has had problems to make ends meet. It started in 1997 through church aid group and I have been loyal since then.I took these photos today to immortalise the condition of her flat which is going to undergo a little alteration.
PolkaTagAlong 10 | 186 26 Sep 2012 / #68This is a great thread, keep the pics coming, esp the ones of the towns and university/high school students.
OP pawian 220 | 24942 26 Sep 2012 / #69Why students?OK.The charging hussaria picture in the history classroom was taken down and replaced by Shoah commemoration
PolkaTagAlong 10 | 186 29 Sep 2012 / #71Why students?It doesn't matter that they're students, it's just interesting seeing the people in my age group.

I won`t report you. :):):):)photos of Polish shops and/or businesses which cater to Poles round here.Interesting. As a kid, whenever I watched a film about Poles in America/UK, I always considered it extremely funny to see those Polish shops.

OP pawian 220 | 24942 29 Jun 2013 / #77So, today I started to redecorate our elder kids room. Especially the ceiling.
OP pawian 220 | 24942 29 Jun 2013 / #78I removed old plaster and put new one. I also moved the ceiling lamp top the right so that it won`t get in the way of the kid climbing up the bunk bed. I still need to remove the old paint with silly formations and finally make the surface smooth with gypsum plaster. Shyt! I don`t want to think about the drudgery before me.
OP pawian 220 | 24942 8 Jul 2013 / #79Shyt! The drudgery is over. I finished the fekking ceiling and started painting the walls today. Kids are giving a hand. They have chosen the colour themsleves - maple leaf. Ooops! I had doubts but it is their frigging room.
OP pawian 220 | 24942 8 Jul 2013 / #81:):):) Thanks! :):):)But not yet. Wait till everything is back in its place. Currently, my room, my wife`s room and the balcony are full of toy boxes and other stuff .... :):)
Lenka 5 | 3536 8 Jul 2013 / #82I know how it is. I renovated my whole apartement not so long ago :/ Nightmare with all the stuff. But the ceiling looks amazing :)
OP pawian 220 | 24942 8 Jul 2013 / #83Exactly. I sometimes think that we, Poles, are veritable magpies at hoarding things. :):)

OP pawian 220 | 24942 13 Jul 2013 / #86The window sill was covered with cork tiles. When I was putting it, I thought it was a good idea. Eventually, it wasn`t. The cork frayed and crumbled under the weight of kids` books and toys which they love to put on the sill before putting them back onto shelves. So, today I bought a few black floor tiles and....
