It's taken a while to get to court but here it is.

Good riddance.

A university professor in Poland who plotted to blow up the Polish parliament building and assassinate the former president and prime minister has been sentenced to 13 years in jail on charges relating to terrorism.
Brunon K, 48, was convicted of planning to assassinate the president, prime minister and members of parliament in 2012. All steps taken by Brunon Kwiecien related to the attack on parliament were driven by his wish to lead a revolution, to kill the president, cabinet ministers and lawmakers.

Ah Brunon K. Likely dude with some mental issues talked into the whole thing by ABW. Something similar to burning the guardbox at the embassy. Anyway, where did you get it from that he was a "fascist" ?

Maybe I'm missing something here, but what makes you think that Poland's Internal security agency would encourage him to assassinate people and blow up a parliamentary building? Isn't their job preventing and combating terrorism?

And they did that. But first likely were told to manufacture the whole thing.

Brunon KwiecieĊ„

A Polish Guy Fawkes? I doubt if centuries from now anybody will remember him let alone celebrate his anniversary.

By who, and to what end? Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me.

Glad he was found guilty though, he sounds like a total nut job.

By who, and to what end?

By the same guys who were not too long in charge in Poland and now are going bonkers when their interests are jeopardized.
To smear opposition as extremist and fascist.

Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me.

that only tell us that it sounds like a conspiracy theory to you.

Glad he was found guilty though

Why? I think that guy should get a proper mental care instead of 13 years in prison.

So you're saying that the former government conspired with the Polish Internal Security Agency to try to get this guy to assassinate the former president? Have I understood you correctly here or am I on the wrong track?

I think that guy should get a proper mental care instead of 13 years in prison.

Maybe, but it would have to be proved he is actually suffering from a mental illness first.
Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber, wasn't mentally ill, despite what he did.

You are on the wrong track.
I'm saying that the ISA found a dude with a slight mental issues who was talking a lot about awful state of affairs in the Polish politics and started talking big about how it would be good to blow them away and bragging a little that he has a knowledge how to build a big bomb.

Students were talking back and forth and it was all there was and there ever to be. All that had to do was to monitor him just in case.

However some guys in the previous government learned about that and decided to use that case and this guy to blacken reputation of the opposition as he was claiming to be a patriot and giving off about government quite openly.

So, they send agents who told him - OK we are willing to do it - what is you plan and then lead him step by step to the movement when they had enough to present it as a case to the persecution office. In fact there was never a danger of the actual action taking place.

Maybe, but it would have to be proved he is actually suffering from a mental illness first.

Did they even want to? After all it would expose a lot of well placed people.

I haven't read anything to confirm this part of what you've said. Where have you obtained this information?
Maybe there is more in Polish media sources?

Did they even want to?

I would have thought that having him certified with a mental illness would be advantageous if I believe what you say to be true.
Put away in a mental hospital somewhere out of harms way.
As it is he's going to appeal the decision, although it would seem unlikely the charges will be dropped unless new evidence comes to light.

The whole affaire is rather mysterious. Even the mainstream media report that he renounced his plans a month before he was caught. Evidently he was preparing something, but then he stopped it, yet he was arrested and accused of still doing it. All this was at a time when one of the secret services was contemplated to be dissolved, so catching him and revealing his plot was a very good excuse for this service to continue their existence.

I've read a couple of mainstream reports on it, but nothing about him renouncing his plans a month before, or that one of the secret services was to be dissolved. Which reports you have read?

yet he was arrested and accused of still doing it.

Well they did apparently find a stockpile of TNT, gunpowder as well as other explosives, firearms, military helmets, bulletproof vests, and fake drivers' licences. Plus he was found guilty of recruiting two students to help him.
