i am all for Slavic-Turkish economic cooperation (for cooperation with anybody after all) but, still, i can`t relax there on vacation. Too much history. Turks killed too much Slavs in most bestial ways. Then again, i think to myself, who didn`t? Slavs were targeted my many. Plus, Turkey is still very backward.

If just Turkish politics isn`t again that aggressive on Slavs

Killings were mutual Crow. In Balkan Wars Serbs and Bulgarians killed many Turks, Russians killed too many Turks for centuries. We have to draw a line to the history and look forward. I personally visited Russia and Serbia and had nice times there. If you step one to Turks, Turks step two.

I think you should visit Turkey. Do not afraid your nationalistic feelings will not decrease but you will see that Turks and Slavs have more common sides in terms of way of living. I see US empire as a big threat not only to Turkey but also all world. I am happy to have close relations with our historically worst enemy Russia today.

Right now a visa is still required to go to Turkey, the new ruling has not taken been finalized, I'm not sure when it will take effect.

Crow, I'm no fan of Turkey under Erduan, but that's a stupid comment, using a single case as basis for saying that they are killing Slavic children, is like saying that no white man should ever visit NY because a white man has been killed there.

It's even less smart than saying that because of this event no Serb should cross the borders of Serbian.

First of all I am very sorry for him. R.I.P. This very sad event happened before Galatasaray-Red Star basketball match in istanbul. Two fanatic fan groups of two teams meet in front of the saloon and started to fight. He was killed with a knife during this fight. It is not about his race. It could happen between any other fan groups. As far as I know although it is very difficult to find the killer as there were hundreds of fan from each side at that moment, police manage to find the suspect. I hope he will be punished.

Every Europeans know that what happened in France can not be possible in Turkey. But of course, this maniacs are everywhere in the world now. We Turks also not feel comfortable like other Europeans.

Turkey has been hot destination especially for Poles for very long time , I remember back in the 70'and 80' we were hooked on Turkish goods in particular clothing , which were smuggled to Poland and then sold at "bazar" or "butik" in every major city with huge price mark-up , but that never stopped us from buying those very trendy jean jackets which could also be turned into vests ,or those colorful wool like sweaters ? Some cool sh%t remember ?...everybody had them :)

They do issue visa for american passports on arrival for 30$ and 20$ if you get it on internet before arrival.

If you get the visa online, surely you have to pay when you submit the application and not on arrival?
UK residents now have to apply online for an an e-visa before travelling, whereas before last year they could get a visa stamp in their passports and pay a £10 fee on arrival.

Yes, you have to pay online at the time of application.

As for visa on arrival, it's a grey area. There are supposed to be booths now at Istanbul Airport where you can sort out an e-visa before going through the barrier (though I haven't noticed any) and there are wifi zones airside where you can get an e-visa however they are still issuing paper ones at the normal kiosks to the right of the immigration desks. UK citizens are supposed to get the e-visas however in Turkey things don't always work how you expect ;-)

That's what I thought but Pigsy's post confused me a bit.


From what I've read this is true,and I've also read that the visa machines at the airport are quite good at taking your money but not at actually printing out the visa! So I think I'll be getting mine online and not leaving it to chance on arrival, it would only be more hassle.
