Dear oh dear! Bad attitude man! (Meant in jest - it's your business and I'm sure your place is great - sincerely)

They work for me because I pay them a fair salary, and support my staff...makes for better employees and an easier to run business. They can always work somewhere else, but for some reason they stay on.

Treating fat fuckkers like you cost the NHS far more than treating smokers: treating health problems caused by people being overweight or obese cost the NHS £4.2bn in 2007 source: sourceuk.net/article/12/12439/cost_to_nhs_of_obesity.html, that's one and a half billion more than treating smokers. And, unlike smokers, fat bastards don't pay billions more in tax than it costs to treat them.

Make the fat cunnts stand outside in minus 20: the shivering will most likely be the only excise they get all year.

You live in Poland and drink Czech beer? How odd..

I need NHS help!

So did you read Harrys response then? You got the figures, where are your stats?

You ever had Czech beer? One sip maybe it's not so odd.

I fail to see though whre the two figures are united by context though Harry. We, the UK, spend billions on a nuclear deterrent, and it's money well spent, but we haven't had a nuclear war.

Conversely, money spent on cancer therapy doesn't equate in any way to the revenues raised on smoking.

I'm a bit pissed now ( at home, being pleasant to my loving family, not spoiling anyone elses' enjoyment either) which is probably why I cant see the excuse for smokers saying - " I've got cancer caused by my smoking - please help me NHS - it's my right - because I paid a lot of money in".

LOL - you know that's a senseless argument, and there are others far more deserving of NHS funding - Alzheimers patients for one.

Amathyst:

Show me a decent Polish beer and I'll drink it. Czech beer is probably the best in the world after some English real ales.

So....? And dont go on about your Polish chemical shite please mate.

Polish vodka is a world leader, as is Polish rye-bread.

Beer is a big NO NO. Don't be offended. We hve ugly women. ( a generalisation - ugly men too - I checked in the mirror)

Treating fat fuckkers like you

Tut tut. Now behave yourself
First of all, we are having a debate - if you cant handle it - fair enough. But dont come the aggressive islander with me.

86 kilos is fat for me because I'm 3 kilos over my ideal. No need for personal insults though. I dont insult anybody on here intentionally and am not going to take it from you.

Conversely, money spent on cancer therapy doesn't equate in any way to the revenues raised on smoking.

You are talking bollocks yet again Doug: cancer treatment costs the NHS £5 billion a year, half what the government gets in tax on fags.

I fail to see though whre the two figures are united by context though Harry. We, the UK, spend billions on a nuclear deterrent, and it's money well spent, but we haven't had a nuclear war.

Let me put it simply: smokers pay more in tax than it costs to treat them. Which shows that you are talking bollocks when you claim otherwise.

Tut tut. Now behave yourself
First of all, we are having a debate - if you cant handle it - fair enough. But dont come the aggressive islander with me.

No, we are not having a debate: I'm providing sourced facts; you are talking utter bollocks and claiming that my sources aren't good enough.

Czech beer is probably the best

On that we can agree.

I've got cancer caused by my smoking - please help me NHS - it's my right - because I paid a lot of money in".

Not only through NI payments but through inflated fag prices...where as the fat kvnts who have never worked (because they're fat) are starting to demand gastric bypass treatment...Most smokers who develop cancer dont last long enough to get their monies worth out the system... life expenctancy of lung cancer is about a year, fatties go on bleeding the system for decades!

The data, from the NHS information centre, showed there were 2,724 hospital admissions in 2007-08 for bariatric surgery, which includes stomach stapling and gastric bypasses.

Dr David Haslam, a GP in Hertfordshire and clinical director of the National Obesity Forum, said PCTs were turning down requests for surgery not because patients were failing to meet criteria laid down by the National Institute for health and Clinical Excellence (Nice), but to cut costs.

The NHS information centre data published in February also revealed that the number of drugs to treat obesity dispensed on the NHS increased to 1.23 million items in 2007 - a rise of 16% on 2006

Eighty per cent of people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes are overweight or obese at the time of diagnosis

guardian.co.uk/society/2009/apr/09/obesity-surgery-nhs-rise-spending

Did you know that smokers had to pay for patches and gum to give up? No free treatment...Fatties get it all...Smoking is an addiction, most people over eat and become fat because they are greedy and lazy!

"We are spending £372m to implement the Healthy Weight, Healthy Lives strategy and as part of this we are investing £75m over the next three years in Change4Life that aims to encourage people to be more active and eat better."

My brother heads up a team for the above government initiative and he was happier when working in mental health, he said the people he worked with previously responded better! Doesnt that tell you something?

Because smoking could be only a factor to why a person has cancer. All patients should receive treatment no matter what they have done. It's not up to healthcare workers to decide on who to treat and who not to treat.

Still, no one has yet to give me an argument against banning alcohol. It costs the NHS a hell of a lot more money than smoking and even costs the treasury a lot more money trying to control those (police im talking about her) who cant handle drink...

Ww've all had this debate about smokers vs fatties. Two wrongs dont make a right.

My missus was nearly wiped out by a black car driver doing 200 on Chorzowska in Katowice on Tuesday who lost control of his car, leaving her a hospital case and requiring tranquilisers.

If I had been there I would have dragged him from his car and beaten him within an inch of his life, no doubt about it, as his type are above the law.

I would have been banged up, as we all have to pay for our actions. Personal weaknesses such as over-indulging and expecting the State to rescue us, should be the same.

Harry in his desperation is trying to label me a fatty because I booze. Due to a mtb accident I dont do sports anymore but at 6 ft plus and 86 kilos i wouldn't call that fat. Beer gut - yes.

I agree about fat people who cant control their habit not being funded - but I agree with certain NHS trusts who challenge their obligation to provide expensive cancer treatment to smokers.

I could quote plenty of staistics that have a contary ( and probably equally skewed) viewpoint to the criteria of the BBC article.

My position is that passive smoking kills and I dont need the Britih Medical ouncil or it's Polish equivalent to tell me that simple truth, when I return from a booze with my clothes stinking and with a smokers' cough.

Luckily Katowice is an up and coming area and they recognise the danger,s and most bars that I frequent have taken radical steps already.

No you can't: even ASH, part of the anti-smoking lobby, admit that smokers pay billions more in tax than it costs to treat them.

Harry in his desperation is trying to label me a fatty because I booze.

Desperation to get you to actually pull your head out of your arse and understand that the issue is not as black and white as you make it out.

a black car driver .... his type are above the law.

Casual racism to round the evening off, lovely. Isn't it time you toddled off to bed?

why not ban smoking entirely?

....and we must limit your cheese intake. Ice cream cannot be eaten more than once-a-week, and while the bureaucrats are at it, since they know what's good for us, a limit on the amount of kilometers you drive should be imposed; to lessen pollution.

This is very simple, actually, which is why politicians don't understand it. Anyone who wants to open a smoking restaurant or bar should have the 'freedom' to do so. Anyone who wants to ban smoking in their establishment should also have the 'freedom' to do so. Let the people go to any place of choice they want to go to. What's the problem?

LOL - You have lived in Warsaw too long. Get off your liberal high horse and you wont jump to ssilly conclusions, but might actually read the post.

We hate drivers of expensive black cars here in Silesia. On government work no doubt.

PS If the driver were black - he in all probablity would not be Polish - ergo would not be driving like a complete maniac. Do you drive, or are you being obtuse through choice?

smokers pay more than enough tax to cover the cost of their illnesses and die early enough that the saving from not having to pay them extra pensions is a significant benefit to the state purse.

Great point.

Unfortunately one side of this debate are not in the slightest interested in any points: they will force their way onto everybody.

And that would be the Left side once again restricting liberties. Per usual...

I agree - at last. One of the reasons I stopped frequenting such premises was the nasty odour of smoke.

Well then you are in for a shock!

When the smoking ban was implemented in Ireland, the number 2 complaint (after the smokers) was the odours of all that stinks in a pub but is happily masked with cigarette smoke. I am not talking about poorly ventilated places, as that is disgusting but normal bars.

Farts, body odour, milk that had been spilt (don't cry) under the bar counter and anywhere near the toilets... Bars had to spend millions on refurbishing their establishments.

- we should make a distinction between food and drink AND stimulants or other not necessary parts of diet like cigarettes.

You sure about those last two?

- and I already broke down the first ones... ;)

Totally un-PC, but who cares about PC anyway - it had to be said! :)

I love the way the bariatric brigade always blame it on being "big-boned" or whatever. How many 25 stone Africans or Chinese do you see - apart from a few rich ones? If you're lazy, won't exercise or work hard, and eat too much Americanised/Westernised junk food, you will get fat - simples.

PC was designed to silence and limit honest debate. Everyone should oppose it whenever they can.

No one should be getting free food subsidies until we can see their ribs showing.

No Convex - Harry would be dismissive, because I can't find the source of my assertion right now - but you probably know that it was proved that Pizza Huts' "initiative" was actually more dangerous in terms of carcinogens in the air than keeping the whole place as it was before.

Any chemists out there? Isin't a "partition coefficeient" or something along those lines, where two or more chemical laden air masses collide and set up all sorts of physical and chemical reactions...?

You just hate, anybody that disagrees with you. You state that you are 6.3 and weigh 90 KG,
and you say that you will fight anyone that disgrees with your principles. Come and visit me,. I am 5'9", weigh 100 kgs and I will beat rthe **** out of you Tell me that I cannot smoke in a bar where they allow smoking. I don't give fcuk. itd not your choice!!!!. its the choice of the owner of the bar.

You mentioned you.re 18 year od daughter. When she tries drugs or sex for the first time, are you going to cry on here that its the fault of the Polish people?

Grow up!!!, being English does not mean that you are perfect. Make an allowance that we are all human, we make mistakes. that is what makes life so interesting.

I'll make a deal here for anyone that wants to play the game, if you go to any small establishment and order €4k worth of shots, I can guarantee you that they'll turn the bar into a non smoking bar for you that evening. If not, a good dose of shut the **** up is needed. You don't want to pay rent, you don't have to come in, you don't make the rules.

Easy, or?

olaf you are right, what you all dont get is there is no conclusive evvidense that smoking is the cause of cancer. it is true i may help, but why dont these people take a eading of the harmful things in the air we breathe. i agree if you want a fag then go to an allocated area, i dont smoke if my guests are none smokers but i do object to being forced to stop. look at the downturn of a lot of pubs and clubs duer to the smoking ban. and one important point, there is nothing worse than a reformed smoker, those who have stopped, are now the worst complainers of smoking, it makes me sick to listen to their compklianing. we walk around outside and never once do they say how bad the air is they are btreathing. there is more harnfull things in the air then there are in the smoking rooms. there is an argument for those who smoke a lot, our lungs are'nt designed for that kind of air intake, so like anything if you abuse it youn will get ill. if i take a tablet for my headache that is one thing, but if i abuse those tablets and get ill, are you going to ban the tablets. all we need is moderation and respect for others, and that means you non smokers respecting the smokers and allowing them to go somewhere to have a fag, and i dont mean outside. i have been i situations where there has been a woman who clearly put too much perfume on and it made me feel sick, do we now test for, or ban women with exsessive levels of perfume. this issue has been blown up out of all proportion, if you knew the true fact you would not be talking like this, in fact you may not even have stopped smoking. there has been too much scare mongering.

"The cigar is a great resource. It is necessary to have traveled for a long time on a ship to understand that at least the cigar affords you the pleasure of smoking. It raises your spirits. Are you troubled by something? The cigar dissolves it. Are you subject to aches and pains or bad temper? The cigar will change your disposition. ....Smoking a cigar puts one in a frmae of mind to dispense with unpleasant thoughts. ....don't you sometimes have some pleasant remembrance or consoling thought? A cigar will reinforce them."...................The Duc de la Rochefoucauld-Liancourt (1794)

This is again a move forced by the EU to reduce smoking but initially all governments are having profit by tax through cigarettes.

If this sh1t is an effort top reduce smoking, hahahaha...

The owners of bars and restaurants will have to make special space for smokers or they are completely banned.

What a big bullsh1t.

Everywhere in Europe (France, Germany, Greece,...) locally the laws are turned back in the "old" way...not to forget in some areas smoking/tobacco is part of their culture.

This is waste of time and money by EH. Nothing new by the way ;-)

From "The Cigar" by Barnaby Conrad III

"Queen Victoria was a virulent anti tobacco lobbyist, and when she died in 1901 her son and heir, Edward VII, who was an avid cigar smoker, gathered his intimate friends at Buckingham Palace. The men were waiting in a large drawing room when the new king entered with a lit cigar in hand, "Gentleman," he proclaimed, "you may smoke."
