Polish priest is sacked by Vatican for coming out as gay!

Father Krzystof Charamsa, who held a post in the Vatican's branch for protecting Catholic dogma, urged the Catholic church to change its 'backwards' attitude to homosexuality. The 43-year-old revealed that he also had a Spanish partner, in two separate interviews with an Italian newspaper and a Polish news programme. The high-ranking Polish priest said that his decision to come out as gay was motivated by the Church's 'inhuman' attitude to homosexuality.

Apparently certain members near the Holy See have as yet not headed his advice as regards the rights of homosexuals to confess their faith before G-d.

A sad comment indeed.

In what sense, Vox? Are you perhaps one of the moron millions worldwide who honestly believe gays aka alternative lifestyle genders any are less entitled to share their Christian faith than the rest of us???! Oh sure, you'll start spouting scripture at us right and left, ad nauseum :THE BIBLE SAYS CLEARLY.....

Well, uh, reality check there, dude! The Bible was written by humans beings, right? Humans are fallible, correct?
So there you have it! The Scriptures were the poetic, painterly interpretations of natural law by a bunch of well-meaning illiterates addressing most other well-meaning illiterates (...as, DUH.. few people in those days could read or write).

Merged: Polish homo priest stirs outrage at Vatican

A Polish priest, Father Krzystof Charamsa, who holds a sensitive Vatican post in charge of protecting Catholic dogma, has caused a major stir. The 43-year-old cleric called a press conference to announce he was a practicing homosexual and brought along his Spanish sex partner to ptrove it. Charmasa claims priests have a right to practice sex and accused the Church of being "backward" over the issue of homosexuality. According to the Polish weekly news magazine Wporst, Charamsa had sent offers of an "exclusive" interview to newspapers and television stations across Europe. Wprost found that the publicity was needed to promote sales of a book he has just authored. The Vatican responded that the announcement was ill-timed because the media pressure might affect the proceedings of a Bishops' Synod now getting under way. Charamsa has been removed from his post, since the views he is promoting run counter to the teachings of the Church.

promote sales of a book

Another possibility suggested by a political insider whom I am not a liberty ot name was that the ostentatious coming-out was designed to harm PiS' chances in the election. Does that sound plausible? Does the long arm of the Platform reach as far as the Vatican?

I have just seen him and his partner on tv. They look great and happy together. If homophobic and backwards Vatican do not want him any longer, he'll be better off. The guy is too intelligent and too kind to belong to a sect anyway. I am sure that he has opened doors and there'll be more to come... We are in the 21st century and no longer in the dark Middle-Ages. I wish him and his partner all the best :).

In what sense, Vox?

In a sense he should be kicked out. He supposed to be celibate not gay. Letting all those homo-like or inadequate weirdoes into seminaries resulted in that little epidemic of pedophiles accosting boys.

homophobic and backwards Vatican

What about bermudophobic Lufthansa or KLM? If a pilot or stewardess came to work in casual dress -- bermudas and T-shirt -- becuse they didn't fancy the regulation uniforms and refused to change... Or the red-clad, bear-hatted honour guard at Buckingham Palace....

Every employer has certain rules and regulations. If they didn't, total anarchy and chaos would prevail. The RCC has its rules as well, and those who cannot or refuse to follow them are shown the door. And that is as it should be.

@Pol: once more some nonsense! Most people are heteros but some are homos, some people are white, black, yellow, tall, small... and there is nothing they can do about it. Why should some not be accepted because "different"? Obviously, (all) religion(s) are not tolerant and discriminate. The Polish priest accuses the RCC of being not only homophobic but also paranoid.

Yes, the Vatican is "shocked" because 2 consenting adult guys love each other but is not shocked by all those fat paedophile pigs abusing kids in their churches...

The Polish priest is better off away from all those paedophiles and I wish him and his partner the very best.

InPolska +1 The current pope is showing unprecedented levels of love and tolerance. The conservatives in the RC Church must be fuming. As for the American protestants, the pope is the Antichrist anyway.

tall, small

Yes, but if a pipsqueak weakling applies for a job in building or mining requiring great physical exertion and is sent home -- is that discrimination? If the guy was a homo, he shouldn't have studied for the priesthood in the first place. Now he's raising a ruckus and hogging the limelight to promote sales of his book. Profits first and foremost and to hell with everything else!

homo

Is there a particular reason that this particular piece of hate speech is tolerated here?
gregy741  5 | 1226

yup...its called freedom of speech.i know, you libtards have problem with this concept. here:
"Freedom of speech is the right to communicate one's opinions and ideas without fear of government retaliation or censorship"

hate speech

Fag, pansy, bugger, sod, nancy, queer, etc. are pejorative, homo is purely descriptive. Quadrisyllabic homosexual is a bit too unwieldy for normal use. What about homophobe - is using that term also hate speech?

Freedom of speech!!, that's one of the reasons that I came to Poland, it truly is a wonderful thing that sadly has been eroded in many other European countries.

The priest was free to come out as gay, and the people of Poland are free to comment and share their views as they wish, without the fear of persecution or prosecution, brilliant.......

I just hope that this wave of European economic migrants in Poland do not try undermine these freedoms, and respect Poland's religion and traditions.

It's well known to be a slur. theguardian.com/sport/2013/jun/03/roy-hibbert-fined-gay-slur

Aren't we getting super-ultra-hyper-mega sensitive? Besides, have you set yourself up as a self-proclaimed homosexual defender?
I did scroll back BTW and it turns out htat you have always been an arroagnt, complex-ridden know-all pontificaitng about who is and who is not Polish, whether Poland is a Catholic country, etc. Other posters way back have compared your obsessive nature to a tick one can't get rid of or proposed moving you to Mars so as not to conaminate PF. It's good to know you haven't gone off only just recently but have always been correctly pegged for what you are.

That's what the pope says.

Yes!! and Papal infallibility is a dogma of the Catholic Church that states that, in virtue of the promise of Jesus to Peter, the Pope is preserved from the possibility of error "When, in the exercise of his office as shepherd and teacher of all Christians, in virtue of his supreme apostolic authority, he defines a doctrine ...

So!! I think all catholics, myself included, will have to accept as fact that there is an unnatural amount of sick pervs in the catholic church.

sick pervs

I believe Pope Francis said about 10% of priests were homosexual. That would be 5 times the average 2% in overall populations. Certain occupations seem to attract such types to mention only fashion designers, hairdressers and ballet dancers; they are also disproportionately represented in the art, culture and entertainment fields.

That's what the pope says

I THOUGHT IT WAS 10%

Polish priest is sacked

The Primate of Poland Wojciech Polak has commented about Charamsa's ostentatious act: "I believe that is the personal drama* of that individual. May God give him the grace to come to his senses."

*The Polish term "dramat" is much stronger than English "drama" and is closer to "tragedy".

The Bible was written by humans

The Bible was written by divinely inspired humans. That's what every true Christian has to believe.

The CC doesn't support gay marriage, gay priests etc. so this man can no longer be a priest. If you don't like it, don't be part of the CC. Maybe convert to islam i'm sure they'd be more accommodating ...wait a minute...lol

"The 43-year-old revealed that he also had a Spanish partner,"

The teaching of the RC church as I recall it from the late '40s/early '60s was that being homosexual was not a sin as long as the person did not act on his desires .

I think this priest is in trouble for violating his vow of celibacy which he openly admitted to .

@Polonius,

You really believe that the "authors"/"authoresses" of the Bible were divinely inspired??? Do divinely inspired humans instigate crusades, intefadas, jihads etc.. against those with whom they disagree, calling them infidels and other names and burn them at the stake??!

Those sound to me more like primitive fools and bigots. If that's divine inspiration, I want none of it. I'm only believer myself because I at least can distinguish between understanding the mere letter vs. the true spirit of the Scriptures:-)
