2010 Polish Presidential Election

I would go for Janusz Palikot as they are all a load of jokers and you may as well have the chief one as head of the country.

I met him once in Lublin at a British Consulate party, and is a really funny guy.

PO - Socially Conservative, Economically really light neoliberal, flat tax, privatization, etc...But they don't seem to be able to get a damn thing done.

PiS - Socially Conservative, Economically socialist (populist economical policy). Healthy dose of Nationalism, party of righting historical wrongs.

In the US, both parties would get the "socialist" stamp (rightfully so).

PiS stands for a vision that this country should be for the whole nation not only the power elites even if this seems not very practical and even if they were not all the times acting as idealists would

Yup, the whole nation...well, except for those traitors of course. You know the ones... And those people that don't fit in with the romantic vision of Poland that the leadership has.

Both parties, equally worthless.

SD on the otherhand...

I dislike these power elites very much, of course PiS among them. In democracy, mainstream party simply must be populist to win voters. While members of such parties become opportunist very quickly.


There is absolutely no difference between PO, PiS or SD. There is no reason to suspect that practical policy of SD would be any different. People from SD are mostly former members of PO, for some reason excluded from this party (current leadership) and post-communist buddies without any grasp of talent (small minded smart-asses).

These days the only way how I find elections interesting is sociology, techniques of manipulations, etc. I don't even consider such possibility that anybody honest could stay in mainstream politics for a longer while. I have no interest to be an useful idiot of some dirty people.

Which one of the candidates has proper and wise ideas as well as skills to "make" Poland a better place to work and to be happy?

I will stand for a person who would be able to discuss in a constructive way and who has realistic view at my country and respect for people. A person who would make society to follow his ideas and intelligence.

A good candidate with a wise programme.

However, I'm afraid that Polish voters will follow unrealistic dreams, tradition, history and "importance" of catholic mentality again without bearing in mind how difficult the situation in Poland and EU has already became.

I will vote for positive dialogue and intelligent stategy for the next years...
Mentality of Polish sarmatism is today IMO obsolete.
