Oh gee, did they have pot with them? Heaven is crying! Lock them up and throw away the key, those darn junkies!

Let's not lose our heads here. It's just marihuana and what does it matter if they want to smoke a joint? It really doesn't. I've never seen sb who was stoned start fights, like ppl who are drunk do. Alcohol is actually categorized under hard-drugs, but they cannot forbid that as too much money is involved for the state. Softdrugs doesn't harm anybody any more than the tobacco does with which they roll their joints. That's actually proven.

M-G (so let them have their joints, who cares)

The production, use and possession of illegal drugs is against the law, so why give one group of lawbreakers special privileges not aavilable to pickpockets, drunk drivers and shoplifters?

so why give one group of lawbreakers special privileges not aavilable to pickpockets, drunk drivers and shoplifters?

because that group of lawbreakers thus gaining special privileges would then be the government.

can you say "tax"? enough said. :)

The peripheral costs are too great. Drink driving is bad enough, driving and operating machinery udner the influecne of various stupefiants only compoudns the porblem. Already the Polish police have had to invest loads of taxpayers' money in drug-testing devices for drivers. Society's already got enough problems without unleashing a bunch of druggies on it.

Yes, these are very fair arguments, Polonius3. Thank you for your many good threads - they are all indeed thought-provoking.

If they want to smoke pot, who really cares?

Busy bodies with nothing better to do, that's who. I don't partake myself, but I couldn't care less if someone wants to go home and smoke a bowl after a long day's work. Whatever works for you, I say.

TransAtlantic, I couldn't agree more with you. Indeed, who cares if sb wants to smoke a joint? Like you, I don't really like it myself, but if sb else wants to do it, it's just fine with me. I really don't care. Sometimes, when I'm in a good mood at a party, and sb offers me a sip, I will take it, but that is just it. And I really don't see the problem there.

But indeed, Polonius, thank you for your mind provoking threads.

I dont like weed myself, but weed smokers cause much less problems than binge drinkers.

Should we ban alcohol too?

Should we ban alcohol too?

We should, but they won't. Alcohol is a too big a source of income for the state. So, it's much easier for the state to witchhunt the ones who simply smoke a joint.

We most definitely should not ban alcohol. Beer and the occassional John Player Blue are my only guilty pleasures. That, and I would lose a shitload of moolah.

People know the dangers of these substances, it should be their choice if they want to put them into their bodies. None of the states business.

are you serious? you may actually look into mj sometime because what is coming out of your mouth (keyboard) is pure ignorance.

That's because marijuana is much more of a depressant than alcohol.

Don't know. Mj isn't in widespread use as tobacco and hasn't been studied as much. Also it's hard for me to believe that when smoking maryjane you hold it in your lungs and that doesn't have a detrimental effect on your lungs.

Dont give a f*ck about whether pot is harfmull or not, it stinks like sh*t, every pothead needs to be f*cking shot for making other people endure that bloody stench.

but it has been studied just seems that the studies don't fit into all the righteous drunk's idea of what they think mj is so those studies are discounted.. mj has a fraction of the poisonous chemicals that cigarettes do.. mj is not addictive.. etc.. it's not even close to the kind of poison alcohol or tobacco are.

Nothing has been studied as much as tobacco. MJ is not in as widespread use as tobacco. Studies and effects just haven't been done.

From the mouths of babes. You don't know what's in mj that you get on the street.

mj is not addictive..

From my personal experience when mj was much more common than it is now, I disagree. Yes, it is addictive. Most if not all drugs are.

mj is not addictive..

No? Then why are there rehabs for pot addicts?
plk123  8 | 4119

where? lol

Yes, it is addictive.

no it is not.. i doubt you have ever partaken if you say that.

Nothing has been studied as much as tobacco. MJ is not in as widespread use as tobacco. Studies and effects just haven't been done.

yes, hmm. i don't know about that and to some extent yes but it has been studied enough to know that it's not as bad as you say and think it is.

You don't know what's in mj that you get on the street.

i can tell you that it's not even close to containing the thousands of poisons that tobacco has because it's chemical content has not been manipulated in the lab like tobacco has.

You can get 2 years for one joint in Poland, about the same as for rape. This needs to change and there is legislation coming to change that nonsense.

Legalizing possession would cause horrible results, like what they're seeing in the Czech Republic and Portugal....oh wait. In those countries the police actually have to fight serious crime there now, no, that wouldn't be good here.

You think it looked anything like this?

What's that?

Potheads attack police in Warsaw

Something sounds wrong about the title. If you have ever met a pot head, the last thing they are likely to do is attack anyone, wait... did the police have chocolate muffins?

It sounds like the police did not know how to react.

Polish police that did not know how to react and thus overreacted? I don't believe it!

Policja! Policja! Don't bash my head in with that stick! I was only crossing the street!

potheads

Ha I haven't heard that term used for ganga smokers since the 80's. Maybe someone has been watching too much Beavis and Butthead? I teach professional Polish adults in corporations and even the most conservative ones are for the decriminalization of the weed. If its happening in the often draconic states of the USA then it can happen anywhere... Even Donald Tusk said he wouldn't have said he didn't inhale pot or some kind of political speak. If somebody proposed a decrease in personal tax or an increase in pension payouts in conjunction with decriminalization then I bet everybody would be for it even the Radio Maria crowd :) Instead of old people lining up for at the pharmacy they could just grow some ganga in their windows haha

True, but since the receive a lot of taxes on alcohol and cigarettes (on fags it's here in Ireland I believe somewhere around 6 Euros!), they make it their business. But indeed, everyone should decide for themselves.

@plk123:

Indeed tobacco is more addictive than mj is. And I have never believed in the "stepping-stone" theory that one thing leads to another. When you smoke cigarettes, you don't necessesarily start with cigars or pipes at a later stage. Some will do, but I guess that's more about the character of those individuals than anything else.

In NL it's officially still illegal to possess and smoke mj, however, it's condoned in order to focus on the real perpetrators: the dealers, the harddrug users and -dealers. And it works. We have actually the least drug-related problems in Europe and in fact the majority of those problems are being caused by so-called "drug-tourists"; young ppl, mostly from France who use the mj they get in the coffeeshops in the same amounts as they would do with the crap they use at home. However, the mj they get in the coffeeshops is for most part genetically manipulated and is much, much stronger, so they will most likely get some sort of an LSD trip when they use the same amount in their joints. And that causes ppl to pass out on the streets or get epileptic-like symptoms. I've seen it a few times happening and I tell you, it's not a nice sight :(

i think most of the time it's from the brownies and not spliffs.

mj is psychologically addictive, not addictive chemically.

it's neither.

pot smokers are non violent.. it's the drunks that are. you are buying the propaganda.. reefer madness, i tell ya. jeez.

If its happening in the often draconic states of the USA then it can happen anywhere

actually legalization is happening in the most progressive of states only. California, Washington, Oregon, Wisconsin.. that's it..
