Tusk or Hollande -- a Salomonic dilemma? What will be better for Poland?

The name of François Hollande has been circulating as a possible replacement for Tusk. The decision is supposedly to be taken at a meeting of exclusivist EU biggies. What will be better for Poland: a lefty frog and hopeless EU fédéraste or a shifty-eyed, Polish-speaking centrist known to hobnob with scamsters and badmouth his own country in public? That truly is a hard nut to crack.

Change the word 'centrist' to 'follower of whatever political party will give him most', and that's an accurate description of somebody best not named.

Merged:

PO the only party that refuses to back its member for Euro Council chief

Everyone knows that the PO leads the way in scamsterism, as well as the number of SB sntiches and ex-PZPR members in their ranks, but it has now scored another first. It is probably the first EU party that refuses to back its own member for a senior EU post -- the chairmanship of the European Council. Jacek Saryusz-Wolski has been a PO member for years and has represented it as a MEP, but the PO's hare-brained leadership prefers to back an outsider who does not belong to the party. Apparently he was better at palm-greasing than Wolski.

an outsider

This just in: The PiS Political Council has made PM Szydło duty-bound to decline official support for the Euro Council re-eelction of ********* Donny. Reasons incljude: he vioalted the principle of neutraility ny interfering in the itnenral affairs of a member state, conspired with one side of an internal political row, a ddestructive opposition bent on overthrowing the state. Tusk also tried to impose refugee quotas on Poland contrary to the country's best interests

The PiS Political Council

That sounds remarkably similar in name to the old Communist Politburo, doesn't it Polly?

Anyway, it's going to be hilarious. Tusk enjoys the support of virtually everyone in the EU, including the other members of the V4. Even Orban will be voting for him.

Watching this afternoons proceedings is a real face palm moment - poor puppet Szydlo looks almost in tears and of course the guy who started this nonsense is not even in the room for her to consult.

Tusk has just been re-elected as President of the European Council with 27 out of 28 countries in favour of his Presidency. One country was against - Poland.

A massive defeat for Polish diplomacy and Poland in the EU.

Exactly. Even the idiot from PiS on TVN24 is trying vainly to skirt round the issue, but this is a huge slap in the face to Poland. Poland is isolated diplomatically, with even the other members of the V4 voting in favour of Tusk.

My prediction is that the EU and the European Council are no longer going to tolerate nonsense from Poland.

Its not membership. Poland is ruled by EU.

What is next? Separation of Silesia supported by EU?

The thing is Poland has had a LOT of money from the EU, I think you'll see just who is in charge and you'll find out not the Polish government..

Great news.

A massive defea

A massive win for Poland, a massive defeat for Jaroslaw (Lady Constance) Kaczynski.

This should serve as a warning for the PiS regime. Problem is, Some of them (Kaczynski, Macierewicz) have such a lack of self-awareness that they won't be able to resist going that bit too far.

It's a monumental defeat for PiS. The phrase "diplomatic suicide" is all over the media now, and I couldn't agree more. The UK and Hungary voted for Tusk, and even tiny Malta turned round and told Poland to **** off with the stupid games. Warsaw is now trying to block the official declaration from the meeting in retaliation, but they don't seem to realise that their petty games won't work in Brussels.

Anybody else heard the entirely untrue reports that that cat Dude is swearing Jacek Saryusz-Wolski into office at this very moment after the Constitutional Court have proclaimed him the winner of the vote?

Why? I must say that is a splendid job to show Poles what the EU stands for. Good job PiS.

Probably in the middle of the night

More international laughing. At least Tusk won, and with resounding support.

Whatever that means - who cares. What is important is a fact that more and more young people in Poland came to conclusion that the EU is not such a great deal for Poland.

At least Tusk won

A lot of good that it does for Poland. Good for a one reason alone - he is not going go back to Poland anytime soon, which is good for the country.

Effectively, Poland becoming protectorate of EU. Humiliated.

Serbian media underlining that Tusk was reelected despite Poland being against. Overall conclusion is that, after all, stance of Poland really doesn`t much matter within EU.

How many young people are we talking? What do you think, how did they come to this conclusion? Refugee/ migrant problem? Too much power for Brussels? Who gives them this idea? Someone who wants a POLEXIT?

This image (plakat) is more then 10 years old. So, let`s not be surprised. Polish patriots long time ago became aware what they can expect from EU

Just remind yourself how former Czech president Vaclav Klaus and many others spoke of EU. Just think how Serbians warned on mechanism of EU mass media propaganda machinery when one country refuse to accept EU`s dictate.

After all, EU actively took part in destruction of Yugoslavia. So, EU have that in itself. It lost innocence long time ago

@Ironside

The effect is the opposite, rather than young people having a road to Damascus moment and seeing that the EU is an evil German superpower, what actually happened last night is that older people see that Kaczynski is truly nuts. I watched the events with my moderate PiS voting in laws who turned off the TV and said they could not believe the nonsense Kaczynski and Szydlo were coming out with.

Worst of all is the lack of political skill from someone who is supposed to be a mastermind - he has put both the PM and the Foreign Minister in a position where they will never have any credibility abroad again - there will be a time when Poland needs goodwill, whether it is over funding, Putin, NATO or some other issue.

Have in mind that Jarosław Kaczynski blames Tusk for the tragedy of his brother Lech. In other words, Tusk`s carrier goes up after death of Lech Kaczynski, what in turn fueling ideas that plane crash was truly a coup d`etat, an assassination, organized by some circles from the west of Europe, EU or NATO.

Yes, because Polish people truely believe that the most important issue to them is Our Dear Pathetic Leader's personal vendetta against another politician.

Jarosław Kaczynski blames Tusk for the tragedy of his brother Lech.

Only because it's easier than blaming himself...

fueling ideas that plane crash was truly a coup d`etat, an assassination, organized by some circles from the west of Europe, EU or NATO

or............ RUSSIA?!?!?!?! That's the scenario that JK and AM keep pushing.

Sometimes a plane crash is just a plane crash

Leader's personal vendetta against another politician.

Only because it's easier than blaming himself...

what if Jarosław blame those circles which organized coup? What if Poland`s NATO alliance and EU membership represent a farce, where Polish patriotic circles tries to escape from NATO/EU, while western Europeans tries to assimilate Poland completely?

or............ RUSSIA?!?!?!?! That's the scenario that JK and AM keep pushing.

Hardly. Lech and Putin had something in common. Something very important for balance between Poland and Russia. They both were/are sincere supporters of Serbians. In comparison to that, their ``misunderstandings`` were joke. Then, Lech didn`t tried to hide fact that he travel to Russia in order to improve Polish-Russian relations.

Sometimes a plane crash is just a plane crash

Sometimes. But, in case when two leaders (Lech and Tusk) travel and only one of them return to home,....

Hardly. Lech and Putin had something in common.

Just be quiet, you don't know Polish and don't follow the Polish media. JK and AM have consistently implied that Russia is responsible. I don't believe that. But that's the official PiS line (the idea is Tusk and Komorowski conspired with Putin).

But, in case when two leaders (Lech and Tusk) travel and only one of them return to home,....

They didn't fly on the same plane, the flight that crashed was planned by JK (in a petty political spat with Tusk who was already PM). If you want to blame anyone, blame Kaczynski..

Just be quiet

tell it to your wife.

you don't know Polish and don't follow the Polish media.

We Slavs understand each others, pretty well.

You know nothing. I do follow Polish media.

JK and AM have consistently implied that Russia is responsible. I don't believe that.

what I know Germany was also directly accused.

But, its for sure much healthiest to accuse Russia. I mean, if you wish to avoid NATO`s and EU`s democratic darkness.

They didn't fly on the same plane,

Exactly

If you want to blame anyone, blame Kaczynski..

I blame EU and NATO. I even don`t think that Tusk was involved personally. Just, one day, when Tusk got successful career within EU, somebody nicely told him: ``We know how to thank to our friends and how to reward our adversaries.`` and, that was it, Tusk got his message and was reminded. Sure, it was a kind to warning, even to him who was admitted to the club.
