RUSSIA threatened to NUKE Poland yesterday as the world faced the prospect of a terrifying new Cold War.
The chilling threat was issued by a top general of Vladimir Putin amid mounting tensions over the war in Georgia........

thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article1566799.ece

So here it is America is not putting the original missiles on Poland's soil which Russia was adamant against, even though they were defensive in nature and no match for all of Russia's nuke missiles. You would think Russia would appreciate that.

Now there is an agreement for simple defensive patriot missiles to be put on Poland's soil and Russia with it huge ego, is making tough guy bravado remarks threatening Poland. How nice lol

Hahaha. I love the source - such a credible bastion of journalism!

Mods : what about editing the title to give a more accurate view of things? Perhaps "RUSSIAN GENERAL IN 2008 SAID THAT THEY WILL AIM NUKES AT POLAND IF THE MISSILE SHIELD IS INSTALLED".

Or perhaps more simply - "MediaWatch has Russians on the brain"

Your the one with Russia on the brain.

As usual you are very sensitive about anything said about Russia.

When I first read your posts (before I said a word about Russia) all you ever talked about is Russia Russia Russia.

Everything with you was "wo is Russia" and "poor Russia should not be blamed for what Soviet Russia did to Poland". You were whining about Poles daring to have any negative thoughts about Russia, when nobody was even talking about Russia. I found that amazing. Then after the whole Smolensk plane tragedy, you went onto other topics lashing out at Poles for "payback" for Poles daring to ask tough questions about the Smolensk tragedy.

As for your suggested change of the title, RUSSIAN GENERAL IN 2008 SAID THAT THEY WILL AIM NUKES AT POLAND IF THE MISSILE SHIELD IS INSTALLED" that might not be so bad. Its shows how Russia loves to be aggressive against other countries that dare to have DEFENSIVE mechanisms in place against potential Russian aggression (especially at a time when the world saw Russia invade Georgia which nobody ever dreamed would happen in post WWII 2008). That's probably because Russia wants to always be able to have the ability to attack Poland with impunity and how dare the Poles be able to defend themselves against Russia.

Poles daring to ask tough questions about the Smolensk tragedy.

They didn't ask tough questions - they asked stupid questions.

That's probably because Russia wants to always be able to have the ability to attack Poland with impunity and how dare the Poles be able to defend themselves against Russia.

And you honestly think that France, the USA and UK don't have missiles pointed at Russia?

Perhaps a spot of realism wouldn't go amiss.

They didn't ask tough questions - they asked stupid questions.

Yes Delph by your Kremlin standards they may seem to have been that.

But questions showing that Smolensk and Moscow authorities made some mistakes (airport should have been closed, etc) were good questions. But of course from your pro-Russia agenda viewpoint, you don't like those questions.

Russia says: WE'LL NUKE POLAND

nonsense. Why would Russia nuke Poland? its absolutely obsolete information

Poland already seeks to abandon NATO criminal organization and to satisfy its own (own!) interests thru Visegrad Group/Alliance. not to mention that particular Polish interests include wide cooperation between Poles and Serbians. So, as always in history when Poles and Serbs worked together, Russia won`t dare (nor would Russia have reasons) to be hostile on Poland.

We Serbs expect increased Polish influence here in the region because throughout history Poland was only European and Slavic power able to successfully balance between internal Slavic business on one side with the influences of Vatican and Orthodox Church on the other side.

Go Poland!

Nuke Poland? Ridiculous! Medvedev seems to be serious about scaling back on his atomic weaponry. He attended Lech Kaczyński's funeral (RIP) and was warmly received. He found his way through the ash ;) to attend. Where was Obama?

Ridiculous!

true.

Sean, did you heard that Poland and Serbia signed few bilateral agreements these days? Poland is wise. Now, together with Serbs, Poles should knock on the door of Ukraine. Then, Poland shouldn`t worry nor because of Germany, nor because of Russia.

BDW, Scots should follow Poland, not England.

Poland needs to get rid of those that will stymie the process of forward development. Poland and Ukraine work together in Kosovo and most get along really well. However, there is still a lot of tension to work out of peoples' bodies before trust can be earned.

exactly. When act with Ukrainians Polish troops are pro-Polish, when they act side by side with Americans, Polish troops are anti-Polish.

The Ukrainians really are important in key geopolitical issues. However, some hairs stand up on end (the Russian bear) when a NATO power gets close to Ukraine. I don't think Russia fear Tusk and his intentions for such a bilateral partnership with Ukraine. Kwaśniewski is known to be pally with Ukrainians and the Russians accept him too. You know him, right Crow? The drunken ex-PM of Poland who took them into NATO in 1999.

i am sure that Russia won`t complaint if Poland solely (not as part of NATO) gets close to Ukraine. Throughout history Russia only profited from existence of Slavic states on her western borders. Now, Russia for sure understand processes of globalization and facts that Slavs on her western borders (from Baltic to Balkan) needs to join efforts if wants to survive. So, Russia won`t complaint if influence of Poland expand. Trust to this info, when Serbian inform you.

For many reasons Russia can`t directly intervene to support (even if wants that) western or southern Slavs but, Poland can for many reasons. Strengthening of Slavic element on Balkan-Baltic line generally suits to Russian interests (better Slavs on her western borders then Germanics and/or Turks).

So, if Poland represent that key to the strengthening of Slavs on Balkan-Baltic line, even if it mean lesser Russian control over those Slavs, Russia would even support Polish intention to strengthen.

Russia is today, more then ever, natural ally of Poland.

Let's see if he supports your analysis, Crow. Let's invite him in.

This is true Seanus. Medvedev deserves a lot of credit attending Kaczynski's funeral when he faced the same volcanic ash risks as Obama to fly to Kaczynski's funeral. Obama used that as an excuse not to come while Medvedev did not.

I just get agitated at the Russians sometimes when I see them and their supporters coming on this forum and knocking Poland/Polish people. Like that one usual suspect.

It doesn't happen too often though, MW. Many Russians felt genuinely bad at the loss of LK. Just get the people together and you will see them get on.

Hi, all!
View from Ukraine: today~s Russia is certanly NOT a friendly contry for Ukraine.
We constantly have problems with their government. & we are against all kinds of alliances with them.
Russian policy is anti-Ukrainian & it s clear for us.
I hope, the situation there will change someday.
Russia must understand: Ukraine is independant country with its own way.
They talk about "friendship", but they want to have huge influence (political, social, economic etc.) on us - that s NOT friendship.
I repeat: their real intensions are so clear for us.

P.S. But I don t feel aggressive against Russian people! It s "state-to-state" relations.
On the other hand Russian media work...
