WARSAW (Reuters) - Poland's tax office has levied a fine of 2.3 million zlotys (507,000 pounds) on an unemployed woman for failing to pay tax on income worth at least 13.7 million zlotys she said she had earned as a prostitute.

is shrinking

thank God!

Half the population still lives in communist-era high-rise slabs.

slabs are much better than cardboard.

Polish business is oriented toward Germany, by far the country's largest trading partner and investor.

and it is obvious that less oriented toward Greenland ;)

U.S Role in [Country Name] is Shrinking.

Yeah, that just about says it all for me.

the USA is trying to pull themselves out of their worst economic criisis since The Great Depression. isn't it kind of obvious that their role is shrinking in most countries???

Given the failure of USA in doing so, we might add "US Role in [USA] is Shrinking" ...

failure? not really.. it's just not what we all wish it was just yet.

That sounds like failure to me - with a dose of spin :)

failure? like.....failure?

unemployment is dropping, 10's of thousands of jobs are being created every month, the DOW is up over 10,000.....sure, there's still plenty of work to be done and a war to finally finish....but failure???

walk the streets of any major city in America and failure will be the last thing to go through your mind.

Indeed. The build quality of the 1970's/1980's building spree in Poland is far, far higher than the 1990/2000's flats.

I think Poland being a friend of America is a good thing, not getting involved in foreign wars, but just being an ally. One thing, i think America as such a large and wealthy country doesn't invest enough in Poland, much smaller nations have far more money invested in our country than the U.S

Things between Poland and the USA may change after this election, and we get a new congress, and after we rid ourselfs of this bad president we now have. We the Polish-Americans care for Poland and her people and want to help, whenever need be.

Poland was faithful American ally, taking part in both Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns
and was one of not many pro-American countries in the EU. However, Americans insulted
us on too many occasions for us to ignore it. They constantly keep showing their contempt
for us. Oh, well - not that it breaks my heart, but we should change our attitude too.

I won't even mention the missile shield and visas issues again, because we've talked about
it a hundred times - two major "F*ck you, Poland" gestures by USA, but let's take the 70th
anniversary of the outbreak of WW2, for example.
The ceremony at Westerplatte was very important for Poland. Germany sent their Chancellor
Angela Merkel and Russia their Prime Minister Vladimir Putin (there were 20 other Prime
Ministers present at Westerplatte, including those of France, Ukraine and Sweden.)
America said "F*ck you, Poland!", again, and sent some non-entity.

Some time later they sent their Vice President Joe Biden with an official visit to Poland.
He laid flowers under the Warsaw Ghetto heroes monument and promised to be present
at the opening of Jewish Museum that will take place in 2012. No flowers were laid under
any other Polish monument and no mention of visit to any Polish museum was made.
Of course, why bother with Polish, evil, anti-semitic animals? Only Jews in Polish history
matter for our American "friends" (as we are reminded every now and again, by American
congress :)) "F*ck you, Poland!"

I could go on like that and talk a little bit about contracts for Polish companies in Iraq
(yip, you guessed it - "F*ck you, Poland!") or the offset deal for the F-16s we bought
("F*uck you, Poland!"), but there's no point really. All we have to do is to FINALLY reply
to all this "F*ck you, Poland!"s with one, loud "F*uck you, America!"

By the way - the Plastics are complaining in another thread about some building, lightbulbs,
PuĊ‚aski - something like that. They consider it an insult to them. It is a 100% DILLIGAF case
for Poles in Poland, but it shows the American attitude - they even insult the Plastics!
They have a very special way of saying "F*uck you!" to their own feckin Poles! Hilarious :)

Most of this is true but no Americans are to blame but only the Poles since they let the CIA agents to run Poland.Poland doesn't need Americans for anything yet the treasonious "polish politicians" allow America to exploit Poland.Poland has never benefited from relations with the US and probably never will.

Poland was faithful American ally

Poland isn't important to the US...even though they took in hundreds of thousands of Polish citizens. Poland is an economic and political minnow in the great game...it's no surprise that the US doesn't see Poland as priority one.

US Role in [USA] is Shrinking

Wishful thinking of someone who obviously didn't make it in the US and goes back home. I bet all of the more successful Polish or Polish-Americans in the US, don't share your opinion.

Nothing against you richasis, it's just that successful people don't have any reasons to complain.

Poland isn't important to the US

The grass is green.

Poland is an economic and political minnow in the great game...

The great game, that America is on the best way to lose, but that's not the subject
of this thread and I couldn't be arsed discussing it. I will just sit back, relax and watch
(how do you say "sit back, relax and watch" in Chinese? :)).

US doesn't see Poland as priority one

Hey! I can understand that, no problem!

Why the "F*uck you!" gestures all the time though? That's what I can't understand.
Where's the benefit to America from insulting us? Just for the fun of it? :)

Yea it is a wishfull thinking at the moment but hopefully it will change rather sooner than later.Any Pole wishing for more US influence in Poland deserves to be shot.

Can you please rephrase it? What are you trying to say?

Don't confuse not caring with insults. The US insulted the Japanese 60 years ago, they insult the Iranians, there were some insults towards Grenada. The US hasn't kicked out all those cabbage eaters from the US, so I figure we're still even somewhere.

From US ears, Polish "F*ck you!" sounds like birds chirping. Joe, did you hear something? No? Hmm, must be those sparrows again.

I will just sit back, relax and watch
(how do you say "sit back, relax and watch" in Chinese? :)).

No clue, but it has something to do with cracking atoms.

Read the post no. 13 in this thread. I think I explained quite clearly in it, what I mean
by "F*ck you, Poland!" attitude of USA.

Come on...you know you need it, want it even. Who are you going to go when you need something? The Germans? The Russians? The Chinese? Serbs?

You might go away for a while a bit mad, stomp the feet a bit...but, you'll be back*

Pressure against one of your neighbors.

And which country is? Beside the obvious one.

Germany, Russians, Japan, Saudis come to mind, India...and of course the boss.

Come on...you know you need it, want it even.

Erm... I'm not sure I follow you, old boy. What do we "need" and "want"? :)

Who are you going to go when you need something? The Germans?
The Russians? The Chinese? Serbs?

Poland is, by and large, self-sufficient country. With farming capable of feeding
120 million people and a population of 37 million (on an area only slightly smaller
than Germany) we have a lot of potential for growth. We don't have to "go to"
anyone.

Pressure against one of your neighbors.

Oh, you meant that? Well, we had to choose one ally between Russia and Germany.
We chose Germany (not such an obvious choice, but a logical one in the end) and
we are allies now. Russia is not a threat to us.

No need for Americans meddling in our relations with neighbors.Thank you but no thank you.Anyway, didn't US chickened out to Russia lately?
