Here is the start of my campaign to change the rules in poland, here is the first letter to to EU. please everyone send one
here is the details below
please fax you're letter to 0033 388179068
Dear Sir/Madam
I wish to complain that the European parliament is breaching my human rights by allowing Poland not to allow me to register my Right hand car in there country.,as you can see by my address i live in poland but i am from the UK.
I have a specail adapted car as i am a disabled driver and i need my car. I have been told be the polish government that i must sell my car and buy a polish one or a left hand drive car.BUT IF I WAS A MAYOR, PRESIDENT or SOMEONE OF IMPORTANCE I could register my Right hand car,Can i ask as a citizan of europe am I not important to you?
This is not lawful as the EU states in there rules. As an Eu member i can register my car in any EU country.
? Why is the EU allowing this to go one with one off its members all other member states allow british cars to be registered. Is there a clause in the contract with poland that they dont have to abide within the rules set out by the EU.( PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISNT TRUE)
? if this isnt true then why are you not forcing them to change ? ? if i have to sell my car who foots my bill to adapt another car.. cost will be 12000 pounds.can you let me know as soon as possible?
? if you are not willing to make them change the injustice that they are appling to me and many others. As a disabled soldier who was injuired serving the EU I feel let down by the EU. Why make rules if nobody sticks to them and if you feel the same then then just give me the details of the department i send my bill to for adapting a new car. i dont see why i should foot the bill when you're own rules prove that the Poland is wrong with this ruling and allow me to register my car in there country..
I have been told be the polish government that i must sell my car and buy a polish one or a left hand drive car.
Told by who exactly? It is theoretically possible to register a RHD car in Poland. You must apply to the Ministry of Transport for a special permit to have a right hand driven vehicle registered in Poland. The telephone number to the appropriate department within the Ministry (department of technical specifications) is: 022 630 12 52. Good luck finding somebody there who speaks English.
One other thing, you might want to proofread your letter.
g60edition DID YOU READ HIS POST ????? His car is adapted specially for him, which would have cost him extra money to have got his car adapted for his use. He is a disabled driver, and he got his disability as a soldier doing duties for the EU.
So he would find it difficult and expensive to get a car in Poland to suit him.
Here is the start of my campaign to change the rules in poland,
Charles, have you contacted the Ministry of Transport at the number I gave you? Also, can you confirm your citizenship? If you're British, I may be able to give you the contact number of somebody who can help you if the Ministry decline to give you permission to register a RHD car.
Also, please to get in touch if the Ministry refuse to give you permission. If they do refuse to register a car when there is a clear need for such to be done, it is possible that the EU could force Poland to change its law.
I will happilly support your case. Its about time Poland got rid of these stupid laws, I personally don't feel safe driving a LHD car as its just not natural, changing gear with your right hand ffs whats that all about.
Aren't poland breaking some sort of eu directive by not letting people register their rhd car here? I've seen a few registered but they were more specilist cars ie the poznan drift team have a fleet of orange nissan 200's which are rhd and on polish plates and also an old london cab.

Under Polish law, you can register a RHD car. You just need a permit from the Ministry of Transport to do so. What their requirements are, I do not know.
Recieved a letter this morning from Joao Sant'anna the head of the European Ombudsman saying that my complaint is being dealt with, I have called him today to ask a few questions and what i was told was the more people that send in a letter of complaint about this the stronger the case..
So it's up to us now the lady that is going to look into the case is called Ms Siiri Traat on tel: 00333 8817 3569 or Fax: 00333 88 17 90 62.......
If you can please send a letter of complaint to her about this and who knows we could change this stupid governments rule..

Yes but have you tried to get permission from the Ministry of Transport to register your car. As far as I know the situation, the EU are not willing to get involved unless/until they have information that it is not possible to register RHD cars in Poland.
I sympathise with your case. However, I believe the advice given on the forum is sound- exhaust all possibilities at the Polish ministry of transport first- find a native speaker if you are not yourself and proceed from there.
I dont know your experience of Poland- but the 1st,2nd,3rd answers from an institution or Govt office can be no- in which case carry on, speak to more senior officials until you receive a satisfactory explanation.
Your are clearly distressed about the issue, however to obtain a useful outcome remain calm and allow due process in Poland. Shouting and threatening EU action doesnt tend to cut much ice here when meeting officials.
The European option is slow and time consuming.
It depends ultimately if you are doing this to make some political point or simply wish to have your RHD car registered here.
If you genuinely do want the issue fixed, then EU is probably not the way to go.Thats only experienced opinion though

The situation's changed anyway - Poland has now agreed to recognise foreign car test certificates and to allow registration of them based on that. thenews.pl is down, but a date of late September is mentioned on there...
It would be *very* interesting if Poland continues to deny RHD cars with valid test documentation...
I'm going to register a load of cars in PL just because i can :)
How can they say that a rhd car with uk MOT is unsafe just because the wheel is on the right when most poles continue to drive utter wrecks around badly?
The fact my Malluch has a valid technical inspection is case in point when my pristine BMW with the correct lights etc wouldn't have passed, utterly ridiculous
How do i register a UK car here in Poland? Off on sunday to buy an audi but the MOT and tax have run out and want to get it registered in Poland. Possible?
They are unsafe because the driver can't see the road ahead him while overtaking - remember, you were using Mikey for that purpose. Anyway, I read that EU is demanding that Poland accepts those ridiculous, wrong-way-round cars ;)
I've perfected the overtaking these days, I can do it on my own it just sometimes takes longer to find a stretch to pass,
what do you mean ridiculous wrong way round cars? We do it the correct way its all you other countries who let left handed nepolean change the side on which you travel :p
Of course, dnz, just like every country should have those "wonderful" separate taps :D
Whats wrong with that one for hot and one for cold, At least our plugs don't fall out of the wall when hoovering and spark everytime you plug something in :p
Yes it is: provided that you are left-handed and left-ended. If you're not, it's just wrong.
