During the debate, Barry Madlener said the Netherlands 'does not want to pay for the upkeep of the Polish unemployed or Romanian beggars', according to Dutch media reports.

I'm wondering if the unemployed payed some unemployment insurance while they were working. If so, the Dutch are kind of obliged to provide them with some unemployment money. If not, he is right, Holland is under no obligation to pay for neither the beggars nor the unemployed.

I'm surprised Tusk just kept his head down and let him make a dummy out of him. Maybe wrong comparison but he did have a point the economic hardship and total lack or democracy and freedom during Soviet rule was much worse than this 'tragic situation' currently in the EU. And from what I remember Tusk is the one who wants to help Greece.

He didn't - he avoided the issue for very good reason. Tusk, in his speech for the start of the presidency made a huge impression - his political credibility has never been higher. It would have been a bad decision to get drawn into an argument with a member of some right wing fringe party.
