Poland's Party of Law and Justice (PiS) reconstruction

Just realised the mods changed the title of the original thread on the government reconstruction from December [they seem to have a habit of changing thread titles] but just to note, Prawo i Sprawiedliwosc translates as Law and Justice, not Party of Justice.

It's partly about the EU but mostly about the elections and making sure they get back into government so that they can carry on with JK's plans. Remember JK's vision of 20 years in power for PIS.

As far as relations with the EU goes, I would say Orban is giving a bit of advice from the sidelines. He knows exactly how far one can push the boundaries and get away with it and just when to pull back and appear more cooperative. PIS generally doesn't, because their ideology is far more impassioned and emotional then Orban's who is merely power hungry. Orban will be increasingly involved in running Poland as the two governments have formed an unofficial alliance and have placed themselves in a position where they need each other in order to carry on their present policies. It's a symbiotic relationship between them.

Don't you mean 'making sure they get back into government so that they can carry on fleecing the nation and staying out of prison'?

The most interesting thing for me is that JK himself seems to be walking back on the Smolensk stuff, he's already called for a provisional end to the monthly death-fests (he said something like 'three more and they'll go down in history')

The question is will the Smolensk crowd let go or will they carry on without JK as someone else (AM?) tries to take them over as a constituency?

Basically he's dying now and is thinking about what his legacy will be. He's intelligent and knows that the conspiracy theories about the accident are both tasteless and ridiculous.

A move which is accompanied by increasing attention about the role that JK himself played in that accident. How long is it now since JK announced he was suing Walesa for his comments about who ordered the plane to land and who is responsible for the crash? Six months? But nothing has happened. Why doesn't JK want the tape of his conversation with his brother to be heard by the public?

German and Russian press comments it all in the same way. Great minds think alike. This change weakened Poland, soviet intelligence scored again.
